The Innkeepers (Ti West) on 4/24: Pre-order for only $13.99 from Amazon

Link - excellent deal for a new release. I didn't see a thread for the film.

I preordered even though reviews for the film haven't been all stellar. The price is definitely right for a blind buy.

I'm going to get it. I haven't seen it and know not the best reviews, but I really liked The House Of The Devil.

I fancy this too. West has stated too, on Twitter, that there will be a very special limited version (not on general release?) Akin to the HotD VHS that did the rounds a couple of years ago.

Does anyone know more about that?

I would have purchased a VHS-Blu-ray combo of HotD, but for some inexplicable reason there was only a DVD-VHS one. I likely wouldn't be interested in a similar set-up for Innkeepers, as it doesn't seem to fit conceptually.

Saw this in the theater a few months ago and thought it was boring as $h!t. Nothing happens for most of the running time and all hell breaks loose during the last 10 minutes, which by that point was too little too late for me, and I was one who enjoyed the deliberate pace of HOUSE OF THE DEVIL. I think one of the problems for me was that ALL of the creepy stuff is in the trailer, so when it finally happened in the film it wasn't a surprise.

I don't think the Innkeepers LE is going to involve VHS. It's simply a "very special limited edition" along the lines of what they did for HotD.

Is this the limited edition? It doesn't seem to be for sale anywhere. Apparently, you can only get one through contests, as West said this on twitter:

THE INNKEEPERS limited edition Gatefold Blu-ray has shipped to a few outlets. Be on the lookout for contests and giveaways!

Why is an Uwe Boll film your basis for comparison? Do you set your hopes so low because it guarantees nothing will disappoint you? It's actually not a bad strategy, most people set their expectations too high. I'm sick of the phrase "It's no Citizen Kane." More people should say "At least it's no House of the Dead."

I think he mixed up "house of the devil" with "house of the dead" ... but he'll be disappointed either way. "the innkeepers" bored me to tears. my girlfriend thought it was creepy as hell - I couldn't keep my eyes open till the "scary part".

The best thing about this film was the casting of the two leads
who run the front desk of the hotel. They had a good rapport and
a nice natural low key style.

Without them I likely would have turned it off.

I agree with Steve. The leads are the only reason to keep watching this one if you've somehow put it on in the first place.

I really wanna like Ti West, but it seems like he's only good for setting up an interesting scenario and casting good leads. He can write naturalistic dialog that pulls you in, but he seems to have no idea what to do from there.....

I just happen to see this through Amazon streaming for free and really liked it. Had a similar style to House of the Devil. I wish the climax to both films would move at a slower pace. They seem too abrupt. But otherwise, the look of both films are great. The actors are not Hollywoodish, but have a quality that is both professional, yet amateurish. But otherwise comfortable in what they are doing. The Yankee Pedlar Inn is in Connecticut and apparently looks exactly like the films rooms that were used. Hopefully when I visit CT again I can check it out (it is still open and supposedly really haunted).

i like both of ti west's movies. the atmosphere, the acting, the low key style. it takes confidence to not rush through the material and make our eyes & ears bleed with "style."
