The negatives for H.G. Lewis' three 'lost' sexploitation films, LINDA & ABELINE, ECSTASIES OF WOMEN and BLACK LOVE have now all been recovered and will be restored and released on DVD + Blu-Ray, pending funding for this project materializing.
To obtain funding, a Kickstarter campaign will likely be set up and if all goes well, the films will receive a sparkling home video debut as well as potential theatrical screening dates by the end of the year.
Now, a bit of background on these films and where they've been for the past 40 years:
AFAIK, and any Lewis scholars don't hesitate to correct me, LINDA and ECSTASIES were shot in CA and produced by the same people. BLACK LOVE was made in Chicago and produced by someone else...
However, all three negatives ended up being stored in the same lab and seemed to have shared at least one common distributor.
BLACK LOVE was definitely sold on a double bill with Lewis' 1970 nudie, MISS NYMPHETTE'S ZAP-IN, despite the former being very XXX and the latter being tame even by nudie standards.
Anyway, according to the person who's been storing them all this time, the lab bills and subsequent storage fees were never paid so he refused to release them until he received the money he was owed. Now, however, another arrangement has been worked out and he is opening up his vast holdings for restoration. Said holdings include a handful of other treasures including the negative for LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET.
So, I'll keep posting more info as I can and once the Kickstarter campaign is up, I'll link to it here.
