Top Ten Movies To watch on LSD

    Well..

This is crudely written for sure. Not my best work, and I wrote this like 6 years ago. I've recently re-wrote it. It will be published in a big magazine hitting newsstands in mid March. So with that, I give you the older version.. Not very well written, and I'm sure the web guy never proofed it for typos, but it was a long time ago.. Anyhow, my list includes horror films, sci-fi, classic etc.. Here are the Top Ten Films To Watch On LSD

I'd love to watch Inland Empire on shrooms preferably, but if blotter was a good grade and accessible I'd give it shot. My best experience on acid was Santa Sangre. I still sometimes dream about the cemetery sequence, and 'my hands.' So touching...

Oh man. My days of watching movies on acid are long gone, but I still remember seeing Pink Floyd's THE WALL.

Fucking DOOM GENERATION, thanks for reminding me of that piece of shit. Never before has a movie pissed me off so much with it's suckitude. I know it's got fans, but chrissake.....just irked the hell out of me. I'm glad that the whole "Like Tarantino but better!" and similar tagline genre seems to have died down.

    lol...

I LOVE THE DOOM GENERATION..and the follow up...NOWHERE. Like so many films, there are those who LOVE It, or those that HATE IT. I've never met anyone in the middle. I'm interviewing ARAKI soon. He's got a new movie coming out called, KABOOM. A throw back to the DOOM GENERATION days..

Don't do drugs. Drugs are bad. But I'd recommend "Psyched by the 4-D Witch"--that way you won't even NEED the LSD.

Back in the late 80's in a very altered state, I wandered into one of those porno theaters (not a 70's grindhouse, but one of those smaller theaters like the one Pewee Herman got busted in). THAT was an interesting experience. Watching porn on LSD at home might be kind of like that, but without the awful odors and the sketchy, madly masturbating street people. ..

On my re-write for the magazine I included Russell's Altered States... And as a teen, early 20's person in the mid 90s I went everywhere on LSD. I had dinner with my parents at a high end restaurant. I went and saw Nine Inch Nails / Pop Will Eat Itself and the Jim Rose Circus on acid. I went to strip clubs, and got lap dances. I tried to do EVERYTHING I could back in those days... Oh..I even rode home once in the back of a cop car on LSD. We were walking down the street one night, and a cop stopped us, ID'd us. The cop knew my friend's parents, and he gave us a ride home. It was really funny.

We're on the same page ... that's one of the very few movies I refused to finish. After 20 minutes it had me so pissed off at it I stopped it and have never returned to it.

Re: Top Ten Movies To watch on LSD

I'm pretty sure my list would be:

    1. Any movie at all
    2. Any movie at all
    3. Any movie at all
    4. Any movie at all
    5. Any movie at all
    6. Any movie at all
    7. Any movie at all
    8. Any movie at all
    9. Any movie at all
    10. Any movie at all

I sat totally engrossed with "St. Elmo's Fire" once, and I'd only smoked a ton of weed that night. Drugs make any movie fascinating and totally incomprehensible for me.

I skimmed through your article, and I'm not trying to bust your balls but I have to agree it's not very well written. It comes off as very hipster-like, as though it were written for Vice Magazine. Pretty generic list. I mean, off the top of my head I l could list: Kubrick's 2001, any Jodorowsky movie, any David Lynch movie, Pink Floyd's The Wall, throw in a John Waters flick, and etc. It's not a very hard list to make.

I told you guys it wasn't well written from the get go didn't I? Also I think you're missing the point, and that's maybe cause it's NOT well written. The point isn't really that's a TOP TEN list for the masses, it's MY Top Ten List.. You know what I'm saying? That's why it's littered with my personal experiences with that drug while experiences those particular movies..

What Richard said. I've watched Ghandi and Gone with the Wind on drugs. They were great. 2 films that marked my friends whilst on drugs were Jacob's Ladder and Dobermann
And titties! You likes big titties, don't ya?
Oh, you know I loves big titties.

That's a decent article, some interesting films. Antonioni is good to watch on psychedelics, as are Sergio Leone movies, Tron, Brian DePalma and John Carpenter movies, robbe-Grillet, most of Jean Luc-Goddard's stuff, Kenneth Anger.

Greg Araki just cashes in on his queerness to overcome the inherent, profound shitness of his cinema.

Definitely agree with TRON and Kenneth Anger here, Aaron.

Some of my fondest memories involve Bava on psychedelics. Particularly KILL, BABY, KILL and BLACK SABBATH. Of course, the flickering fires, vibrant colors and beautiful sets are fantastic to look at in any state.
