Don't Go In The House
Man From deep River
I recently purchased the 2 Disc Grizzly and it works fine.
I have Burial Ground, Eaten Alive, Jungle Holocaust, Man From Deep River and Zombie Holocaust. They all play perfectly on my player. Beyond the Darkness, on the other hand, takes about half an hour to load in the player, but after that it plays fine. How incredibly strange.
never had any problems playing any of the Shriek Show stuff and I own a bunch of it.
You're never too young to be a dirty old man.
I just watched Don't Go in the House last Thursday. No problems at all.
Yeah, I've never heard of any freezing.
I have all those except GRIZZLY, and they all played fine for me. They're all very nice releases, and worth having.
Ditto. I have the Zombie 3-5, Cannibal Lunchbox (well one with Dinosaur Valley), Post Apoc, Ray Dennis Steckler, Animals Amok, and they're all fine.
Most of the problems I've heard of with Media Blasters DVDs have been authoring errors rather than freezing discs. I can't think of many examples at the moment but there was the messed up audio on Slaughter Hotel and a few minutes missing from Samurai Reincarnation. I seem to recall that one of the later Steckler films had a scene missing, or skipped a chapter, or something like that.
"We were having a party and Harry Warden started killing everybody!"
All my Shriek Show discs works fine.

I have never had a Shriek Show disc end up not working for me. The only two I've ever run into, actually , are Beast With a Gun on Anchor Bay that would freeze on my old Panasonic but on my Oppo works fine , and Salon Kitty on Blue Underground which my Oppo flat out refuses to play past the 38 minute mark, even with BU replacing the disc twice and renting one from Netflix which still wouldn't play. The player is haunted I guess, and is heavily offended by Tinto and co. Woah just realized both movies have Helmut Buerger in the lead role! (burger in the roll! aha)
I would say Shriek Show hasn't more faulty discs than most other companys. I buy a lot of stuff and I had faulty discs from BU, BCI, Severin and others, but I never had problems to get an replacement that worked fine.
Not so with Shriek Show/Media Blasters. The disc I had a problem with was "Vicious Blondes" (I played it on four different equipments and it always freezed up). I contacted them and asked if there is a general problem with this pressing, or if I should contact my retailer for a replacement. They never responded, so I sent the disc back to the retailer and got a replacement - with exact the same problem.
Then I've sent one more sarcastic email to MB, just to tell em that they could at least have told me, that it's no use to get an recpalcement from my retailer, because it also won't work. Now they responded and told me I should send my disc to them and they will get me a replacement that will work. Well... I did so and never heard from them again. Great!
So they are really the only DVD company in the world I really try to avoid buying from.
I own "Eaten Alive"and "Jungle Holocaust" and I've rented "Burial Ground" and most of the others (I did not even know there was a decent widescreen DVD of "Grizzly" or that "Don't Go in the House" was on DVD yet). I've never had a problem with anything from Shriek Show or Media Blasters freezing up.
Media Blasters is a big company compared to Severin or Code Red or something, so they may not be as good about responding to problems, but they should definitely respond to any problems you have with their stuff. I don't know that there are any GENERAL problems with their discs though
There's an entire thread devoted to defective DVDs, James, and Media Blasters is mentioned more than once, including in the opening post. Here's the link:
1) Philips - Jumps to 54:24 and stutters till 54:32.
2) Hitachi - Jumps just past hour-mark.
3) Daewoo - Never recovers.
Others have reported problems with this one, too.
