TWC Movie Pass (On Demand) Channel

I discovered this channel a few days, it's clearly a new one, and if you have TIME WARNER, it's an On Demand channel, and they are free. And just today I learned of an HD version of it. Here are some of the flicks that are playing on the HD version. Mind you there are lot more, of all genres, these are just the ones that happen to catch my eye, (channel 1777):

    It's Alive (Larry Cohen)
    Beast From 20,000 fathoms
    The Exorcist
Return Of The Living Dead, Part II
    The Hunger
    The Curse Of Frankenstein

    Standard Cable Version, (channel 795):

    A Return To Salem's Lot
    Brides Of Blood
    The Beastmaster
    A Nightmare On Elm Street 1 & 2
    Innocent Blood
    Horror Of Dracula

(Note: Those HD versions can also be viewed in standard form, too)

Well, until my GALAXY OF TERROR and FORBIDDEN WORLD arrive, I've decided to settle in each night with one of these flicks, in HD, of course. Tonight, I'm gonna watch RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, PART 2. Haven't seen that one in ages, and I don't even think I've seen it all the way through, either. The superior one is obviously the first one, but let's see how this one goes, maybe, the HD look will be a plus for it.

Nothing will make it not suck.

You're right, not even the HD could raise this flick into the the tolerable level. And, I wasn't pleased with the HD image either, well, let me clarify that, the image was excellent, but there was that stutter you get when you watch a bootleg of an overseas movie. Just for the hell of it, I started up a couple of other movies just to see if that problem was solely confined to RETURN, or ALL the HD movies. It seems to be on ALL of them. Probably, not gonna watch tomorrow's flick in HD then.

Think I might go with THE BEASTMASTER tomorrow, haven't seen that one since I was a kid! That's the one that got me interested in the martial arts, not into now, though, it was mostly a high school, and early twenties thing. Watching Marc Singer throw those kicks in his battle at the end was cool. I remember after, trying to mimic those kicks. Jesus, I miss those days.

It has been ages since I've seen it...but you can never, ever go wrong with Rip Torn, IMO .

Or Larry Cohen, for that matter. IIRC you're already a fan, but check out IT'S ALIVE if you haven't yet.

I'm getting into the Blood Island movies, so BRIDES is the one that I personally would be most interested in.

Seen IT'S ALIVE before, used to have the triple feature DVD, but, for some ungodly reason, I got sick of it, and gave it away. A few years later, I had the desire to go through the movies again, and had to kick myself for getting rid of it. Yes, some time, this week, I'll most likely hit IT'S ALIVE. Like to revisit that one. And BRIDES OF BLOOD, too. Still haven't seen the third one, wish they'd put it on.

Hi! Thanks for the info on this! I just found out, for my area at least, it's an additional $6.99 to add it. But I wonder if Return 2 is the original audio version. Shame about the quality though.

Don't know about the audio, maybe, in the standard version. Still can't figure out why that "bootleg stutter" is on all the HD flicks. The standard versions are fine, though.

I was wrong about ALL those HD movies having the "bootleg stutter" effect. So far, these are the ones that have the stutter: BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, PART 2, IT'S ALIVE, HORROR OF DRACULA & THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

TH EXORCIST does NOT have the "stutter" effect, and looks gorgeous in HD. I then put on a few minutes of some random movies, and THE LAST BOY SCOUT is free and clear of the stutter, so is THE MATRIX 2 and 3. Depends on the movie, I guess.

Well, it's fairly new. Give it time, Todd, give it time. The HD movies, some of them, anyway, are very good looking.
