Alright, here's my attempt at a lowbrow thread for a highbrow company. If you're offended, please leave
Surely, I'm not the only one interested in this, right? I guess if I am, then the thread will just disappear.
Most places I've seen on the web either talk so highly of Criterion that you need to put on the white gloves before touching your keyboard, or they hate Criterion for being film snobs, or for being too expensive, etc.
Personally, I like the Criterion films I've seen, but money and time are short
With over 500 titles in the collection so far, and usually quite expensive prices, there's no way I'm ever gonna purchase all of Criterion's DVDs/Blu-rays. And, given the nature of its catalog, almost every title seems to have a highbrow opinion somewhere about how good it is....and frankly, from the ones I've seen, I do like them for various reasons. Yes, I have the Hitchcocks, Welles, Andersons, Fords, along with a couple of the Truffauts, Malles, Powells, Cocteaus, von Sternbergs and Bergmans, and some of its other films, like Sisters, The Blob, Fallen Idol, Two-Lane Blacktop, Pickup on South Street, Most Dangerous Game, Pygmalion, Night and Fog, and on and on (I actually have a lot more titles than I thought! )...
So.... in order to help me narrow down future buying choices, I thought, okay, which ones have female nudity and/or graphic violence?
Once I have those, then I can continue with the other titles.
I figure this might help with the potential Criterion sale next month.
Please list Criterion titles that contain female nudity and/or graphic violence. I'm not so much interested in how good you think the movie is, as I can find a convincing raving review for most of Criterion's films. Okay, okay, maybe if you LOVE the film, you can make note of it.
For example: (these are just from memory)
In the Realm of the Senses graphic nudity/sex/violence
Sweet Movie graphic nudity
The Unbearable Lightness of Being nudity
Murmur of the Heart nudity
I Am Curious nudity
The Royal Tenenbaums nudity
My Life as a Dog nudity
Night and Fog graphic violence (but not for enjoyment in any way)
I hope to add to the list as I remember more.
Here's a list of all of its movies, if needed:
