Christians against rock music docus
I was always a big fan of these, anyone else?
My fave being "Hell's Bells: The Dangers of Rock and Roll" The segments on backmasking would always get us to dub cassettes and flip the tape over and see what other hilarious coincidences we could find! Another good one is David Benoit of Glory Ministries talking about "The occultic Tendencies in Rock Music." Both of these have popped up on CG lately if you're interested in checking them out! Any other fans??

Re: Christians against rock music docus
I'm planning on checking those out, I love the Christploitation stuff, have you seen the one about occult tendencies in kids Cartoons and toys of the 80s? Or the Christian-rapping pirate-puppet kid's show?

Re: Christians against rock music docus
I've got those two bookmarked and plan to check 'em out too.
I've got the one with the Kids cartoons. Its great when they start talking about He Man and the kid in church who claimed He Man was more powerful than Jesus! I also have a two hour comp of Christian propaganda that has has that Christian rapping Pirate Puppet thing. I'm not a big fan of ventriloquist dummies anyway but thing is particularly scary. When they do the autopsy on the sinner and pull out his eye because it saw sin, and find all kinds o crazy shit in his stomach that was sinful is too much! Another great one is a public access show that features a christian puppet called Chip the Black Boy and the worst Puppeteering you will ever see. |

Re: Christians against rock music docus
I suggest looking up ''The John Ankerberg Show'' if you enjoy laughing at some of these anti-Rock ''N'' Roll ''crusaders''. He was, and I guess still is, a very strange, stiff kind of guy that would have these hour-long shows exposing the occult influence of Rock on ''the young people of America.'' I first saw him on ''The Inspirational Network'' in the early 1990's. It was really just an elaborate info-mercial to sell you on buying his series of books, casettes, and vhs tapes. Additionally, I have to say he was THE WHITEST man I ever saw. He actually looked like he'd been bleached to the point of albinism. Looking back on it now, he reminds me of some character from ''Tim and Eric's Awesome show''. The Inspirational Network used to have a lot of hyperbolic expose'-type shows on things like '' The Satanic origin's of Freemasonry'' and whatnot late at night. Now it's mostly infomercials for knives and joint cream.

Re: Christians against rock music docus
There was a great short called "Why Knock Rock?" with some brothers who wrote a book also on the subject. (Which I have)
I'm pretty sure they released the short on one of those educational archives discs (I believe the "Religion" volume) |

Re: Christians against rock music docus
The anti-rock bias has racist roots...they hated their clean white Christian kids dancing to music made by, ahem, "others."

Re: Christians against rock music docus
Probably the most influential piece of video I ever saw was an episode of Praise the Lord on TBN, with Paul and Jan Crouch's kid Paul Jr around 1982 or so. I'd been invited to spend the night at a friend of mine's from school, and it turned out that the only reason I'd been invited was because he was worried that I was going down a dark path, musically-speaking, and so he wanted me to see this presentation that his church's youth group was showing. It was an anti-rock music episode, exposing all of the Satanic influence in rock, and all it did was give me a shopping list of stuff to pick up. It made rock music even more exciting than it already was to me at the time, and has probably led me to become the devil-worshippin' schlub I am today. Thanks, Paul, Jan & Paul!

I have the incredibly lame doc ROCK:IT'S YOUR DECISION. It's not very enjoyable, even as camp...

Has there ever been a Jewish version of this stuff? I've never run into any. I mean luckily I had parents who even if there was a Jewish version would have never carried and would have laughed at it.

Re: Christians against rock music docus
I loved that story too, in the pirate show there's a skit where a woman explains why it was okay for Moses and co. to kill whole towns of people 'because the laws were different back then.'

Re: Christians against rock music docus
I've got one I'm pretty proud of. It's called RISING TO THE CHALLENGE, and in the corner, it says something along the lines of 'exposing the pied pipers of rock and roll'. Released by the PMRC, of course.

Re: Christians against rock music docus
I saw one of the John Ankerberg programs as a kid and it actually exposed me to more sin and satanic imagery than any kid should ever see.
