My memory is a bit hazy, but i think that the letterboxed trailer did crop the top and bottom of the vhs release. The grindhouse trailer did look REALLY nice, very clean and contrasty. I don't know if Jeff will be able to pull out something similar, but you won't be missing any information with the full frame.

For a 2-disc limited release of 500 copies, $35 is probably not so steep. However, if it is a transfer of the old VHS, I'll be disappointed at that price. Still, I pre-ordered it since I have not seen the movie in any version.

I am hoping it's a film transfer. It doesn't need to be digitally restored and it probably shouldn't be. But a commercial VHS transfer would bite.

So can anyone further sell me on this movie? I watched the (admittedly awesome) trailer on Grindhouse's I DRINK YOUR BLOOD disk last night, and while the trailer is good, it really only shows one scene, and many an otherwise uninteresting film has been successfully sold in this way. Can anyone who's seen this fill me in on what's so great about it? (I'm not at all saying that I don't think it will be great, I just want some more concrete information to sway me.)

I really liked it because it was very entertaining and fun to watch, when I first got the VHS tape I was expecting this crappy rip-off of The Godfather (Which it is haha) but it was actually very good, the acting wasn't all that bad, the story was interesting, the music in the movie is really cool, It has very cool memorable lines and Duke Mitchell is a badass in this movie. Man how I wish Gone With the Pope was never lost.

Overrall, the movie is just really cool in every way, it's really good movie.

    You'll love it.

    Re: Massacre Mafia Style Question

I've watched it so many times that I'm probably too partial, but....

It's like someone (in this case, Duke) telling the story of the mob in America (more or less), but with a handful of characters, people, and resources. How does one attempt to pull that off? Well, how about lots of narration, singing, and when things slow down, wanton bloodshed? Mix in some nudity and highly un-PC dialogue, and you have MMS, but there's more: this is truly a message to the world from Duke Mitchell, and once you sort of glaze over from the craziness of the whole damn thing, you might be surprised at how much some of those monologues and songs stick with you.

I feel like fans of this film are their own sort of family organization!

OK here is the reply, glad I pre-ordered now : )

"We're going to put out a press release later which will answer your questions regarding the video transfer and I'm going to go on AVManiacs and answer everyone's questions but right off the bat no, the DVD was not made from VHS.

    Take Care,

    John"
