WPIX's CHILLER THEATER Back On The Air!

........for one night only. On October 25, 2008 at 8:00PM, WPIX-TV (Channel 11 in NY, now known as The CW) will show TARANTULA (1954) with all the old Chiller Theater bumpers. Set your DVR's and VHS's to record this once in a lifetime event.

Oh, and it will be hosted by Zacherley!

Does it get any better than this?

WOW! This is fantastic news! A shot of the "old Days" in 2008. Very neat. I'll definitely record it. Hopefully, if it does well in the ratings, channel 11 might do it again down the road? Thanks for the heads up Fred.

NO.....WAY.....!

How did that come about?!?!?! This is fantastic news. If Monsters HD "goes ape" again this Thanksgiving (they did in 2005), those who have iO will get to see King Kong, Son of Kong and Mighty Joe Young again over Turkey.

I'm kinda curious about this myself. Wonder what made the CW11 decide to dip into the past?

There are rumblings that this may be the last season that the CW is in operation. This may be Channel 11's way of putting out feelers to see if their old programming will still click with audiences. I have the feeling if Chiller Theater gets a decent audience share, we will see more of it.

To me, the only thing worth saving on the CW is SUPERNATURAL. The rest of their programming is geared more towards teens and twenty-somethings. Most of it is pure, unadulterated crap. I hope WPIX-TV makes a comeback.

That would be great! Things must really not be going well at the CW if 11 may be thinking of going independent again. I'm all for it. For me, one of the things that has killed quality TV in the NY area is the alarming lack of real, true independent television, even more sad considering NY is probably the nations largest market.

Perhaps Bob is right. Maybe folks do read message boards and if not, I know the suits at 11 have cruised YouTube and have seen for themselves the desire for "old time" TV among the people there who post and comment on all those great clips from yesteryear like the Chiller openings, etc....

Very interesting.

Awesome news! I'm going to have to get on the horn to my kid brother to see if he gets it on cable in upstate NY.

Re: WPIX's CHILLER THEATER Back On The Air!

You know despite hearing all the doom and gloom about the economy... that Iceland almost going under - I can't even begin to understand that....and now I hear for one night Chiller Theater will be back on the air, and with the old Ghoul himself, Zacherly.

Things are alright in this world again, my friends. This is fabulous news!

We neeed someone like Paul Revere to rider through New York telling everyone, "Chiller Theater is Coming, Chiller Theater is Coming! To your TVs, To your TVs!"

I read it in the TV section of The New York Daily News this morning. It was a simple four line mention in the InnerTube section.

Re: WPIX's CHILLER THEATER Back On The Air!

I thought I just read a week ago that Zach isn't going to be involved after all. Regardless, that's pretty cool that they are willing to do this for you NYC'ers.

I stand corrected...just looked at Zach's site before posting this and I see that he will be involved. Unfortunately, his site (http://zacherley.com/) states: (he) will resurrect his alter-ego and appear in a cameo spot to open the WPIX October 25 special.

Re: WPIX's CHILLER THEATER Back On The Air!

From Zach's site:

"After our successful 60th anniversary celebration in June, WPIX received hundreds of requests for the return of Chiller Theatre. We are extremely excited to resurrect Chiller for our viewers with the special airing of Tarantula", said Betty Ellen Berlamino, WPIX/CW11 President and General Manager.
