I heard about this film a few years ago and after seeing clips from some of this guys infomercials I became obsessed
He now has a website (that is supposedly unsecured, so buyer beware) where he is selling copies of "The Making of Blood Circus, Part 1" and his 'music' CD (oi vey). Throwing caution to the wind I stupidly ordered the "Making of..." disc (hopefully my identity won’t be stolen), I know he is a scam artist but I was really curious and have been wanting to see more from this epic for awhile now. I placed the order a few months back and never received anything, eventually I just forgot about it, I then went off to school and heard that a package arrived from Santo Gold, so I have no idea what the DVD is like. I’ll have to wait until Thanksgiving.Right now on his website he says that he has unearthed (and I quote) "THE ACTUAL Blood Circus Masters AND 35MM NEGATIVES, 1st., full length 35mm Wrestling film reported lost for 23 yrs., have now been found and Limited License Rights are now available for Executive Producers to come forward and contact us!" Call me skeptical, but I think he had this 'reported lost' film all along and was just trying to milk the curiously of trashy film lovers and completists. But I really would love to see a company like Synapse Films (paging Don May, Jr.) or Dark Sky Films put this out as a special edition DVD, they could even include his insane infomercials (bizarre would be an understatement in describing them). Now I've never seen the film but this guy’s story is AMAZING!! I think someone should make a documentary on him, he is definitely 'out there'. But if anyone does decide to deal with him they should have good lawyers because he is a scam artist. When I watch the "Making of..." DVD I make sure I have my "Blood Circus Scream Bag" handy. ![]() All the Best, Kevin Last edited by Kevin J. S.; 10-17-2008 at 12:27 AM. |

Man, I've been trying to convince people of the existence of the Santo Gold/BLOOD CIRCUS phenomenon for years, and nobody believed me. I just figured that it was something isolated to Columbus, GA-based TV broadcasts.

Re: "Blood Circus" (1985) & Santo Gold
We got those informercials in Cincinnati and Columbus as well. I was long curious to see the first and only "Space Wrestling Movie" in my youth, and still am.

Re: "Blood Circus" (1985) & Santo Gold
I'm pretty sure the premiere was at the Patterson Theatre in Highlandtown. It's a few blocks from where my parents live. If you've seen Cecil B. DeMented, it's the one at the end of chase scene where the group runs into a movie theatre to escape whoever was chasing them down Eastern Ave.
I remember seeing a few large ads for it in the paper whan I was a kid. It advertised some kind of "Scream Machine", whatever that was. |

I remember that infomercial because for a few weeks it dominated the late night airwaves on WDCA.
He was a very entertaining pitchman. |

Re: "Blood Circus" (1985) & Santo Gold
Yeah, in some thread about a year back I talked up this film too and that he had a website up. I remember those infomercials all over my local UHF station and was always curious about the movie.
I wouldn't put it past the guy to be scamming people again but, conversely, also wouldn't rule out an unearthing either. Stranger things have happened and all the info about what happened to the prints/negatives was speculative, third hand info. We'll see. Let us know whats on that DVD and make sure to regularly check that credit card you used ![]() |

The DVD was actually well put together. It came in a plan package and included a Xeroxed cover folded. I was expecting just an hour of raw footage, but it was professionally edited and not only included behind the scenes footage but actual footage from what seemed to be the finale film itself. I really wish someone like Dark Sky or Synapse Films would put the film out All the best, Kevin |
