DVD: Unearthed Films' HARAKIRI - BOOBS & BLOOD BOX SET

Unearthed Films is scheduled to release its 3-disc Harakiri - Boobs & Blood Box Set in the U.S. on October 7th; the DVD set is available for pre-order from AV Maniacs affiliate Amazon.com.

Harakiri - Boobs & Blood Box Set apparently contains the following six movies from Fuji Kikaku's "Zankoku-bi: onna harakiri" collection: Onna harakiri: sange (starring Yûri Sunohara), Jogakusei: harakiri (starring Hiromi Saotome), Onna harakiri: seisan (starring Sunohara), Shiro-shôzoku: harakiri (starring Saotome), 'Shitsurakuen': jôbafuku onna harakiri (a.k.a. "Lost Paradise"; directed by Masami 'Merzbow' Akita, starring Asako Mochizuki, and co-starring Chimuo Nureki, Toshirô Hasegawa, and Sunohara), and Bijo kenshi: futari seppuku (starring Sunohara and Saotome).

Here's a description from Unearthed Films of the movies in Harakiri - Boobs & Blood Box Set: "Attired in their favorite fetish wear, hot-blooded Japanese ultra vixens perform the most masochistic acts of self-sacrifice and submission. The traditional oriental art of Harakiri... Violating their young bodies in ritual self-immolation, they plunge razor-edged blades into their soft, naked flesh. A sea of sweet, red blood cascades as their all too brief lives ebb, and death embraces them."

Saotome also stars in Shûji Kataoka's S&M Hunter Begins (Sakasa tsurushi shibari nawa) - a.k.a. "Hageshii sex: ijô aibu" and "Jigoku no rôpâ 1" - and his sequel to it, S&M Hunter (Kinbaku · SM · 18-sai) - a.k.a. "'SM 18-sai': kurên chûzuri" and "Jigoku no rôpâ 2".

Does anyone know anything more about these? Are they just fake suicide videos, kind of a Guinea Pig-style thing? The box set looks really beautifully designed and I'm fairly intrigued, but I think I need a little more info before taking the plunge. Perhaps we'll get a review up here?

In any case, I'm glad Unearthed is back to releasing weird underground Asian stuff, what I always considered their roots.

I have the Merzbow movie on a dvdr somewhere. It's ok. It was extra on a concert dvdr.

"Lost Paradise" is directed by Masami Akita,who is also one of Japan's leading noise musicians under the name Merzbow.With a soundtrack by the director himself,this intense and ultra-gory seppuku film shows a young woman taking her own life by an act of ritual harakiri.Dressed in militaristic attire,the girl(Asako Mochuzuki)kneels,removes her jacket and opens her shirt to the waist,exposing her naked breasts and stomach.Lowering the waistband of her white panties,she caresses her belly before taking up a sacrificial knife,whose blade she wraps in a white bandage.Pressing the point into her left side she punctures the flesh,then slowly and deliberately pulls the knife across to the right.First blood leaks out,then as the gash widens her entrails start to ooze onto the floor.She continues to cut,her moans strongly reminiscent of those made by the actresses in porno films.Finally she collapses,still groaning,in a lake of blood and coiling viscera.Her death throes are extremely protracted."Lost Paradise" is an extremely gory Japanese shocker which looks as real as possible.I was really shocked whilst watching it and that's a compliment.The suicide scene is extremely long and painful to watch,because it lasts 18 minutes.The soundtrack by Merzbow is truly disturbing and hard to forget.This film is not entertaining,so fans of mindless teen horror should not bother.

Basically, they are all similar ...just different girl wearing different costume and commitiing Seppuku....There are differfences in directorial style and situations..but I have only seen LOST PARDISE so I am only going off the reviews above for the others....

Haha...no problem buddy..

IMDB is usually not so reliable...but I remember LOST PARADISE being on there as I researched a strange harikari movie someone stuck on the end of a DVD-r that I traded...and it was this movie!!

But DON'T DO IT AGAIN!!!
