    Leisure Time videos?

I know this company is pretty much known for compilation crap but I was curious about something - where do they get the footage for use in their comps? Do they buy it from other companies?

I'm just wondering because I know most companies do their own comps in-house using footage they own the rights to - IE. their own movies.

I know Leisure Time was "Video Exclusives" in the eighties and made some feature length films (some good ones too, I might add) but it seems like Leisure Time has an endless supply of shit and I can't recall the last time they made something truly original.

    Re: Leisure Time videos?

Are they at all related to Leisure Time Booking (L.T.B.) which put out its films on Blue Video in the early 80s?

    Re: Leisure Time videos?

Leisure Time is owned by Mark Carriere who owns a number of video companies operating from the 80's to today. So he has a vast backlog of scenes that he keeps cutting up and recycling into cheap collections. He also buys inventory from other companies, most when they fold or even reusing material they put out on their own comps. Their most famous trick is the ads you see offering 80 movies for $5 and you get alot of scenes on a 120 minute tape. Also, what is advertised as being on the tape/disk is not necessary what's on it.

Needless to say, they do not have a good reputation with people.

I know they were still shooting some original content as late as 2001 but I lost track of them after that.

"A favorite target of the feds, Mark Carriere is the richest and most hated man in porn. He's the only person in the industry consistently described by his peers as "evil." Mark so cowers persons in Porn Valley that none are willing to go on the record with their allegations about him which include the wildest and cruelest deeds you can imagine."

    Re: Leisure Time videos?

Leisure Time's DVD distribution was acquired earlier this year by Sunshine Films. Carriere's been publicity-shy the last few years after legal troubles, but it sounds as if he's still involved on the mail-order side. Reports also have some of the video library being sold off dirt cheap.

Leisure Time Booking was Reuben Sturman's 70's/80's film production and distribution company. Around '83, the East Coast operation shut down and the remnants merged into Caballero in California. Also that year, LTB transferred a batch of film copyrights to "Leisure Time Entertainment", which in '84 were reassigned to "Leisure Time Ltd.", and among those titles were several that had been issued by Blue Video, which John Lyons asked about.

There's not much I've found on the record tying Sturman directly to Carriere, possibly the above, and also Al Bloom mentioning Carriere owned one of Caballero's previous workspaces that closed up in the '90's when the company changed management.

    Re: Leisure Time videos?

There was a bunch of crap out in the late 80's that I used to sell called Venus 99, which became Leisure Time. This stuff was in big demand when I worked in Liquidators because of the grotesque images on the boxes. They may have been the first to go the two hour comp route. One of their biggerst sellers was 1001 Cum shots. Of couse they expanded that to three volumes. I was just waiting for one of the idiots that I had to deal with return one because it was shy a cum shot or two.

Christy Canyon had her own label with these guys, remember Savage Fury? After Savannah's suicide, they were written up in People or some other mag as "the absolute bottom of the barrel" porn compamy. Other "inovations" by Leisure Time was dropping the tape speed to SLP to put their films on 20 minute blanks. If you sold ten, eight came back as defective. If one porn company sucks, and not in a good way, it's Leisure Time.

    Leisure Time videos?

They're still out here. A few years ago, they attempted another slick repackaging effort using the name "Crazy Benzi".
If their product claims to be 4, 5, 6, or 7 hours, you can figure that it is at least twenty minutes short of that actual time.
The "1001 Cumshots" videos allocated eight seconds for every climax.

But to be honest, some of their early trailer compilations were reasonably good.

    Re: Leisure Time videos?

Whadda ya know, I ended up purchasing a Leisure Time DVD myself, quite by accident. The most galling thing about it was that, after examining the box closely, I recognized some of the models and scenes from a tape I had just purchased barely a week ago! Needless to say, there's gotta be plenty of new material in the other 3 to 3.5 hours (not sure how much they used out of that tape), but it nevertheless felt like I'd wasted some money... Frustrating...
