The cover art of the first volume is in the style of the manga series, which I like.

Does the show keep the same gory tone as the movies? I'll prolly be snaggin' it either way.

They actually paid Frank Miller for the art? Cool.

No season sets? Collect 5 volumes to get a full season? SHITTY.

I will take what I can get though, so sign me up.

I remember renting some of these from Blockbuster a loooooong time ago and being very bored. At the time though (I was 19) most things bored me.

EDIT: I'm not sure what I rented. What I remember was shot on video and these appear to be shot on 16mm? I'm confused.

There was only one previous US release for the LW&C teleseries, which was an English-dubbed compilation entitled FUGITIVE SAMURAI, issued on the now-defunct Sony Home Video label.

Media Blasters "season"-packaged their ZATOICHI and BAIAN THE ASSASSIN TV series releases, after all of the single volumes were out on the market. So, if you don't want to buy them now, wait for the repackaging in a year or two (they will be cheaper as well).

That's what I saw. It had a poorly airbrushed cover, if I remember correctly.

Tell five people that don't know each other that you would like a volume for your birthday. Just make sure you tell each of them a different volume.
