This series obviously never happened, but a piece of concept art was leaked, so I point you to Bill Sienkiewicz And Frank Miller’s Wonder Woman: Bondage

I've been on a back issue feeding frenzy picking up certain Marvels from the past 20 years for under a buck. The Brubaker Daredevil stuff is great and I'm checking out Bendis next.

I got that new Walt Simonson "Thor" omnibus, it was worth every penny, I got it along with some Hellboy Library Editions and a Witchfinder tpb.

We have fuck all record stores here so I've taken to going to Lone Star Comics every week. I've been buying Matt Fraction's "The Mighty Thor", Kieron Gillen's doing some brilliant work on "Journey Into Mystery" plus I dig the "Fear Itself" maxi-series and the new Hellboy miniseries.

Today I picked up Issue 6 of Dark Horse's new "Creepy" and a Mignola/Richard Corben Hellboy one-shot, what can I say? I've always been a sucker for Mike Mignola stuff

Waiting for the Moore Necro to be collected and Aaron's next Punisher TPB. Where's the next Sweet tooth?

Picked up Chester Brown's Paying for It and it strikes me as his least interesting work, unfortunately. As Seth says in the footnotes, Brown seems a little off emotionally and the book is closer to a tract that his more effective The Playboy or I Never Really Liked You.

Did anyone else notice that during the "Casket of Ancient Winters" storyline in the Simonson Thor book that the law firm was Strother and Martin?

I picked up the new issue of "The Goon", awesome for a laugh as usual

No I didn't, that reminds me that I recently got the American Flagg hardcover and the madame character in that is clearly modelled on Aunt Peg. Loads of other classic xxx porn references throughout that comic.

Love the Simonson Thor comics, I picked up a couple of volumes but maybe I should have gone for the whole deal.

Re: The Definitive Comic Book Thread

Took a gamble on an auction where a non comic person picked up a lot of comics at an estate sale. The listing said over 120 comics and from the pictures it was mostly X-Men related titles from the mid 90's. Figured that there were going to be at least 25 out of what was shown that I already had and also determined these were not going to be mint shape and were just going to be tossed into a box with no padding. So it was reading copies at best. Won the auction for $3.58 plus $15 shipping (Priority).

It arrived last week. Nice rush to go through a humongous box of comics. Hard to beat. There were actually 145 books. The condition of most was a little better than I expected. Many only had a corner ding or bump. A few looked like they had been used to beat a Doberman with and one had the cover torn off but it was a dupe. I'm going to go conservative grading the lot with the majority being very good to fine. A few were fine or Mint.I was very pleased with it and here is the list:

    X-Men(91) 63 67
    Uncanny X-Men:322-329 331-335 337-341
    Uncanny X-Men Annuals: 1995 1997
    Onslaught: X-Men/Marvel Universe/Epilogue
    X-Man: 1-7 10-22 25-27 29-31 -1, 1996
    X-Men Chronicles 1
    X-Men Omega
    Factor X 1-4
    X-Calibre 1-4
    Gen Next 1-4
    Weapon x 1 4
    Amazing X-Men(95) 1-4
    Nightwing 1 2
    Astonishing X-Men(95) 2 4
    Gambit & Externals 1-4
    Askani'son 1-4
    X-Force 44-49 59-61
    X-Factor 63-65 112-114 124
    Cable 32 33
Wolverine 94 100 Days Of Future Past 1
    Gen X 7 8 18 19
    Excalibur 99 100
    What If 90 92
    Avengers (96) 1
    FF (96) 1 2 8-11
    ---------------------------
Books that I already had that were included:
    Avengers 400
    X-Man 21
    X-Force 60
    X-Men(91): 42-54 56-58 64-66 68 Specials 1995 1996

So between this and all of the Marvel remainder pickups it has been a big week!

Is it good Chad? I've not really been following superhero books for years and I'm doing some catch-up.

Jason Aaron's work on Wolverine: Weapon X is my current obsession. Particularly good is Insane in the Brain and Woverine Goes to Hell. I like how Aaron runs Wolverine through different genres: Insane is horror/sci-fi, Goes to Hell is supernatural horror and something like Manifest Destiny is a kung-fu tribute. Aaron even manages to make the time-travel humour of Astonishing Spiderman and Wolverine loads of fun and even poignant.

This is fun. I find most of the non-Morrison X-Men these days a little joyless and over-serious, I prefer the funky 70s comics.

Prophet #21 (Image comics) Just came out on wednesday. In fact, it sold out before it was even released.

    http://www.toonzone.net/news/article...e-release-date

In my opinion, this is the single best comic that has come out of a American mainstream comics company in the last 5 years. Simon Roy and Brandon Graham are brilliant.
