Colt 38 Squad

Looks really good.

Anyone here have any comments on this?

Has anyone picked up the Noshame disc, and can comment on the FIlm?

Thanks.

Re: Colt 38 Squad

Colt 38 squad is good and the Noshame set is a good package with the Ercoli crime comedy too. Colt 38 squad retreads the evil criminal and the dedicated cop face-off and throws in elements of Deathwish, Live Like a cop and the French connection but does it at a fair old lick....

The bonus film, (La Bidonata) on disc 2 merits a release on it's own. A great italian comedy crime film. It's rare we get to see this genre in italian audio with english subs.
So, 2 great films in 1 package.

Re: Colt 38 Squad

Fantastic film with the late great Ivan Rassimov as the villain and a superb soundtrack to boot. Also check out Convoy Busters which NoShame put out at the same time, another classic with some great extras.
I'm really hoping NoShame decide to release more of these more obscure crime movies, the Italians are currently putting them out by the truckload over there but most have no English options.
Btw if anyone from said company is reading this how about Milano Violenta sometime soon? I see NoShame Italy has released this with Italian audio only but there was an English dub of this done,i have the UK tape as Bloody Payroll. If the US arm can release the very mediocre Double Game in a SE hows about an absolute classic like Milano Violenta?

I was very impressed with this film. One of the better R1 NoShame Italian crime film releases. I'm surprised this didn't get its own thread sooner.

Yeah it's a classic for sure Adam,i first discovered it over 10 years ago when i bought a rather nice Dutch original pre-record which was lbx and great quality. They also made a sort of semi sequel titled Ritornano quelli della calibro 38 aka Return of the Calibre 38 or as it's known on US home video Gangsters.I haven't seen this yet but have ordered the original Italian locandina cinema poster which is due any day now.

Re: Colt 38 Squad

I LOVED the film. Unbelievable action, cinematography, Cipriani score and great performances by the 2 leads. Anyone who likes it should also check out STUNT SQUAD. It's "sequel" was pretty bad in my opinion. Never liked Antonio Sabato in any of his leading roles although he's been in a few great films. COLT 38 SPECIAL SQUAD is one of Noshame's greatest releases!

Re: Colt 38 Squad

It weird I had just watched Stunt Squad a few days before Colt 38. Stunt Squad is fun but I'd have to say that Colt 38 is the better film all around.

Re: Colt 38 Squad

Here's my review. Unfortunately, while I enjoyed it to some extent, I wasn't hugely impressed by it. Of the Dallamano films I've seen so far, I would definitely rate this one the lowest.

Re: Colt 38 Squad

Poliziotteschi-my favorite genre of Italian cult cinema
I first started watching these movies well over 10 years ago and my love for them grows more and more as i get older, from battered nth gen vhs copies in the early days to cleaned up special edition dvds now.
Btw Michael if you were not impressed by Colt 38 then you'll hate Dallamano's Superbitch from 4 years earlier with Rassimov and Stephanie Beacham of all people!

Re: Colt 38 Squad

It's not a bad film. I don't know that I'd say it's one of the best of the Itallian Crime/Action movies. But, it definitely has its moments. Not as bland as others in the genre like Revolver not as over the top as say Contraband.

I've got the No Shame edition. Transfer is nice. Haven't actually gotten around to watching the second disc yet. Bofuzzi is great in it. Maintains a stone face throughout (well I guess if you had your wife killed in front of your kid you wouldn't be a happy camper either) but I kind of wanted him in the action a little more.

Other than that good film. Won't say it's a MUST own of the Region 1 Poliziotti films available, but it isn't a bad addition to a collection either.

dallamanos colt 38 special squad

this is a brilliant politizia with excellent performances by marcel bozuffi and ivan rassimov. massimo dallamano directed this with the same degree of expertise that he displayed when he made what have they done to solange.noshames print is absolutely pristine with both italian and english audio and english subs. check it out.

Re: dallamanos colt 38 special squad

I was a little late to the NoShame game but over the past 2-3 months have picked up most of their Italian crime flicks (and a few non-crime). COLT 38 still remains unwatched by me, but I've loved most of what they put out with EMERGENCY SQUAD and ALMOST HUMAN leading the pack. The cast and NoShame dvd treatment have me really looking forward to this.

Re: dallamanos colt 38 special squad

Actually wait, I have watched this. I just put it on to watch it and realized this. Anyway, this is a great film -- really nice photography (and a beautiful transfer by NoShame), some nice car chases if I remember correctly, and Stelvio Cipriani's score is one of my favorites.

Zack is right, this is a great film and it is beautifully photographed. It is my favorite Dallamano along with DAUGHTERS.
