What time does the show start? I'm in the UK and we don't get to see the Awards until tomorrow unless we pay to see it on Sky Movies...
OK, I think we can spare everyone the "yeah, these awards suck" comments, which have been well documented here in the past. This is a thread to discuss the outcome, whether or not you agree/disagree with the choices, and what you think it all means.
Starts in about 10 minutes from now... 8:00 PM EST.
Thanks John, BBC online are running an update every few minutes so I'll be checking that out while I'm online tonight.Originally Posted by John Gargo

Phillip Seymour Hoffman won for Best Actor... I am officially content.
I'm pretty happy with the Oscar results. I loved CRASH, and really liked Witherspoon in WALK THE LINE, too.
Not a big CAPOTE fan, but thought Hoffman was splendid in it, though.
I was glad Reese Witherspoon won for WALK THE LINE, and really, I wished Joaquin Phoenix would have won for best actor; he did a great job. Phillip Seymour Hoffman turned in a good performance, though it really surprised me he won for best actor. And CRASH as best picture? I saw it and thought it was alright, but it was a shock to me that it won best picture. A GOOD picture, but best picture?

Looks like Hollywood punked out on the "agenda" No best Oscar for BROKEBACK, but a real surprise with CRASH for best picture.
For the most part the awards seemed to be pretty fair - haven't seen CAPOTE, but I have to hear from anyone that Hoffman was less than excellent in the role.
Nice to see Clooney win, he's an actor I've come to appreciate more and more lately. Very talented guy - and he gives a good speech.
Stewart was a good host. Even though I love Chris Rock, he was a poor fit, and I've never been a fan of Billy Crystal or Whoopi as the host, so this was a step up.
Main gripes? Not a big fan of Speilberg's WAR remake, but it definitely deserved one of the sound awards. That movie had AMAZING sound. It still sucks, to revive an old joke, that there is no category for stunts or stuntmen, Charlize Theron's spaceball on the shoulder of her gown was highly distracting, and Dolly Parton looks to have had more plasitic surgery than Joan Rivers.
Not the most interesting show, but thats the nature of the beast.
"On your feet, or on your knees"
absoluetly predictable, except for best picture. I could have bet my life saving and became rich because of it. Is it just me, or the last 3 Oscar has been nothing but predictable? TYhere just seem to be no more fierce competition in the acting catagory anymore.
I didn't watch this year, but having found out CRASH won best picture I'm glad I didn't. As much as I don't take these award shows seriously, I would've been so pissed off I might've broke something.
Add it to the list of Best Picture winners that never deserved the honor.
Racism = Bad.
i don't know butchie instead.
I liked Stewart's line on Scorsese and the group who won the song Oscar.

I decided to watch a HK DVD this year instead of the Oscars. Good choice.
Crash for best picture was a bit of a suprise, considering it has been out on DVD for months. Maybe now all the needless hype of Brokeback Mountain would come to an end.
"The masses are a**es"
The results were predictable except for CRASH as best picture. I haven't seen the film but I was kind of happy that something a bit from left field (as far as predictability of the result) won. I thought 'Brokeback' was a shoe in.
