Entertaining action film with some decent comedy. Stephen Chow is very good in his role, and I enjoyed his seduction scene of Lone-er. Brigitte Lin is alluring in her role, and lends a presence that is memorable. The action scenes are very good.

Is it a direct sequel to the first film? I dug the first film. One of the better Chow films I've seen (though I haven't seen all that many, truth be told).

...so much of a direct sequel that it follows on virtually from exactly where the first film left off! If you liked the first, you'll luuuuuuuuurve the second :)

The only star in the world right now I can safely say I'm a fan of is Chow Sing Chi (in fact, I'm a Chow Sing Chi *fanatic*), and this, together with the first part is a very entertaining wuxia comedy, the only problem is that the subs are abysmal. My favorite period CSC film is Flirting Scholar - I LOVE that film - but this one is very funny too.
It's incredible how Wong Jing was able to compress the whole Duke of Mount Deer into this too movies. He didn't do a good job, but almost... Luckily I was fortunate enough to see the 40-part television version of the novel (DUKE OF MOUNT DEER 2000, also a Wong Jing production, starring Dickie Cheung), and this way I could sorta understand what was going on in the compressed version.
