I was wondering how many books does everyone own in terms of fiction, non fiction, and total?

over 1,000 out around the house and about 3-400 in storage.

Too many and not enough... :)
Too many in the sense that there are a few dozen books that I STILL haven't gotten around to reading and not enough in that there are so many more that I want to get my hands on... To throw a number around, probably around 400-500...

Im not gonna go in the livingroom and count, but Ill make an estimate at about 4-5000, I have this huge bookshelf that covers the entire livingroom wall you see.

Too many to count. :)

We have 6 bookcases jammed full.So easily the tally is in the thousands.
Just moved - more than 30 boxes worth......

An assload, especially if you count the boxes stored at my parents' house. I have way more books than movies. I even have more books than shoes, which is saying a lot. I own more nonfiction than fiction.

Probably about 500... way too many for the amount of spare time I can allocate to reading for pleasure right now.

Counting paperbacks well over 1000, many I haven't read though. Add my S.O.'s books and I'm sure over 2000. If I were to count comic books...god knows. I go to used bookstores and just buy stuff I find good prices on. I never use the public library because I have so many books here.
I have a large collection of occult subjects, books on film, literature, science fiction and mystery paperbacks and various non-fiction things. Also some art books...I love Taschen!
I've found I don't read as many books as I used to since I got a cable modem; I spend that time reading stuff on the 'net.
They sure are gonna be a bitch to move though....think I'm gonna have a yard sale. :)

At least 2000...it's getting to be I have to buy shelves all the time. I always seem to find books that are interesting, though! You can't say no to an interesting book, especially if it's at a good price. I can spend hours in a bookstore or library...there's always something to find! Plus, books have kind of a sentimental value for me as well - they represent different times in my life. I can't part with some of them!! It's nice to take down a book from your shelf and read or re-read it - I love reading online, but nothing will replace the feeling of actually reading a book for me.

I couldn`t begin to even guess.I have 3 rooms filled with books in my house.I have a nice blend of nonfiction and fiction, many film reference books. The library here has a yearly book sale, with hardbacks going for $1 and paperbacks .50.I have scored some real gems, including first editions and some great paperback crime books from the 40s and 50s.
Like chuk,I won`t even try to add in the boxes of comics.

Too many reference books to count. Many filmbooks. In fact I've a very large collection of books on filmmaking. About 2000 comics, and graphic novels.(Do they count?) Many horror, sci fi novels, even some philosophy(Nietzche)and classic lit, I've collected over the years. I've had to store a lot of this stuff, over at my parents house, because I just didn't have room for them and my film collection. The part that frustrate me about this topic, is that I never have the time to read them.

If we count the books I left at my mums when I moved out I've got well over a thousand. All non fiction or reference as I stopped buying fiction years ago and very rarely read it from the library.

I own too many of the bloody things to count. I would have to say that I have hundreds of books. I have more fiction than non-fiction. Hehe...I have a short stack of books on my cocktail table that stands as my 'to read' pile. But since I moved I recall that I have way more video tapes than books. :)

I have a good amount of books, too numerous to think of a number right now.
