Sadly, actress Lisa Blount has been found dead: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20101028/people_nm/us_lisablount Such a beautiful woman, I loved her as the ''Death Nurse'' in ''Dead And Buried''. Rest In Peace. :(

Jeez Louise, 53 isn't that old! I've only got ten years to go on that, and that's way too soon in anyone's books :(

For me, Lisa will be best remembered for An Officer and a Gentleman and...Ruggero Deodato's Cut and Run.

RIP, Lisa. I will remember her, like most people, for AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN.

I didn't know until now that she had a production company with her husband, actor Ray McKinnon, and Walton Goggins (Shane from THE SHIELD). They won an Oscar for Best Live Action Short earlier in the decade. McKinnon and Goggins starred with Hal Holbrook in last year's acclaimed THAT EVENING SUN, a movie, which I've been wanting to catch up with for awhile. Sadly, Goggins lost his own wife prematurely (a suicide) several years back.

This is very sad to hear, she was great in Prince of Darkness and Dead and Buried, not to mention strikingly beautiful...

She also has quite the impressive resume: Dead & Buried, An Officer and a Gentleman, Radioactive Dreams, Cut and Run, Prince of Darkness, Great Balls of Fire!, and Blind Fury.

Wow. Way too young to go indeed. A total shock.

Though I've seen her in many films, I remember her most from Dead and Buried where she really made an impression.

That is sad news. I have always liked Lisa Blount especially in PRINCE OF DARKNESS and DEAD AND BURIED. That is way too young to go.

Who's with me that Marley Shelton's look in PLANET TERROR seemed to be an homage to Lisa's "Nurse Death" persona from D&B?

If you haven't seen her husband, Ray McKinnon's, film Chrystal, then do yourself a favor and check it out. Both Blount and Billy Bob Thornton are fabulous as the leads and Mckinnon is great as the ultimate redneck. It's very much in the vain of such contemporary Southern writers as Larry Brown and William Gay. Brutal, yet honest.
RIP Lisa Blount.

^ I loved it. I'm a huge Harry Crews fan, and it had a tone not unlike his work.

I once sought out some late-80's sci-fi thing called NIGHTFLYERS on vhs just to see her in it. Otherwise, a movie like that would be the last thing I would want to spend my time watching.

I had no clue about her later successes. And I didn't even know that she played that role in AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMEN, which I've seen. She was tremendous in that. Like many, D&B is where I was first struck by her beauty and presence.

So do we know why she died? She was stunning in the 80s and even later she looked great...

Found this blurb on Extra website : "Authorities do not suspect foul play. The actress' mother told police Lisa had suffered for 17 years from a condition similar to multiple sclerosis and had recently been experiencing neck and back pain."

Found this blurb on Extra website : "Authorities do not suspect foul play. The actress' mother told police Lisa had suffered for 17 years from a condition similar to multiple sclerosis and had recently been experiencing neck and back pain."

Apparently, she was injured during the making of a (horror?) film in the early '90s, which developed into a debilitating and very painful condition. Ken Wahl is another actor and "almost a star" of this era who inflicted an on-set injury that developed into a chronic and painful condition. Seems Lisa was found with a lot of pill bottles around her (painkillers?):

^ She had also been battling a rare blood disorder called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP).

It's interesting and telling that her character in Chrystal had a broken neck, twenty years earlier, and was in constant pain. I guess that's one of the reason the performance was so on target.

Daniel M.- I think Crews' work is little bit more in the realm of the absurd than Chrystal but I would bet hard earned money that McKinnon is Crews fan.
