View Full Version : Shocker VS Fallen

Inspired by this half-assed article http://movies.sky.com/gallery-movie-vs-movie and the Last Movie you Watched thread I thought I'd ask the question: Which do you prefer? Shocker or Fallen? It's the same plot, serial killer who can possess bodies at will, but I think it goes without question that Fallen is the better of the two. Where Shocker is played for laughs and to launch another big horror franchise, Fallen is taken much more seriously and downplays over the top horror. But yet I've rarely read a good review of Fallen. Every review draws on how it's basically a remake of Shocker and sucks because of that.

FALLEN, that's the one with Denzel and Traci Lords? I thought it was rather overplotted and slightly confusing, but I've only seen it once years ago and SHOCKER (as bad as it is) I do watch again after some years break. It's hard to pick one to prefer, but for the popcorn factor it's Craven since I found less to enjoy about FALLEN, so fear the choice falls on the former (SHOCKER). Wish the FALLEN story had been approached and curled cinematically differently, I'd picked it for it has obvious potential.

Fallen is not bad, but it's way to serious for me. Shocker, all the way. Gotta love that movie.

The First Power with Lou Diamond Phillips got there before either of them. Fallen in particular is a total rip-off.

I was always partial to The Horror Show

They're both crap, in my opinion, so I'll go with THE FIRST POWER. It ain't particularly good neither, but at least it has some inventive direction and some surprisingly good special effects for its low budget.

Right, forgot about that diamond and would pick it too. Kober was a top film and TV baddie in the 80s/90s.

FALLEN is too serious and SHOCKER is too goofy. Wow, haven't thought of THE FIRST POWER in a while... pretty good movie, that one.

I prefer Shocker, but that's not saying a whole lot.
Friday the 13th 9 is another example of this plot, by the way.

Fallen is a solid, entertaining flick but I love Shocker, it's just too much fun not to enjoy.

It's been a really long time since I've seen Fallen

Shocker was boring, as I recall, so the decent but fairly mediocre Fallen would be my pick.
