Hope this was the right section to post in, anyway:

My colleague at High Rising Productions, Calum Waddell has just wrapped up shooting on a documentary on the rise and fall of New York's 42nd Street. It is effectively a group of filmmakers (among them Joe Dante, Frank Henenlotter and Sam Sherman), distributors, actors and writers - all of them there and part of The Deuce - speaking about the area art the height of its powers. Was it really dangerous? Was it really so sleazy? All of this and more is discussed.

We have had some great footage given to us from various movies and collections to use but we want this documentary to be as good and strong as possible.

As such, would anyone here be interested in assisting with images or even film footage? Everyone will be personally accredited and thanked on the film for their efforts and we swear that when this does the festival circuit, if it's in your area, we'll see you get a ticket.

This is a low budget production, done out of love, sweat and tears - And if you don't know some of Calum's work it includes the first biography on Jack Hill (http://www.grindhousedatabase.com/index.php/Jack_Hill_-_The_Exploitation_and_Blaxploitation_Master:_Film_ by_Film) and also many of you will know the work done on a variety of classic grindhouse titles as well including the extras on the recent City of the Living Dead DVD and Blu-Ray(www.highrisingproductions.com).

So if this may be of interest to anyone and you want to help a great documentary be even better your help would be eternally appreciated.

Terry Levene and AV Maniacs very own 42nd Street Pete were also interviewed by Calum, so plenty to look forward to!

I can be contacted at Nick@highrisingproductions.com.

Hey cool! I can remember a couple times on this board having discussions with people about: Why hasn't there been a documentary cataloging the exploitation and porn film culture history of 42nd Street and times square?

So now we can finally say that one is in the works! Looking forward to seeing how it comes out.

Yeah this would be interesting, although now it's just a tacky shopping-mall type strip, even the Yiros/Hot Dog stall guys there are lousy.

Yeah, that sounds pretty neat. What specifically are you looking for? I personally have a lot of Eurotrash stuff, which made up some of the programming on the Deuce, but not a lot. But if you're ever looking for something specific though, just ask, somebody probably has it.

I'd definitely like to see that when it comes out.

It's really particular photos of the street that we are after. Marquees of the old cinemas and images of the street in its garish glory. So if anyone has anything like that then get in touch!
