Fuck the Super Bowl.
The Raiders ain't in it, so I don't give a shit.
Neither the Go-Go's nor Slayer are playing at halftime, so who fookin' cares?
I'll be playing Madden '93 on the Sega Genesis and reminiscing of the good old days. ;)

My first roommate was a jock from Louisiana. One night his dickhead buddy came over to watch a Broncos game and during a commericial he started looking thru my roommate's shitty-assed CD collection. He pulled out the Hootie and the Blowfish CD and said, "Oh, man. This album is so good. I like to put it on when I've got a chick over and sit by the fire and make out."

I wanted to murder them both.

Are the Tokyo Topless Cheerleaders gonna be performing?

Is the Superbowl this weekend? Might have to check out a movie in the theater that evening.

Interesting fact: We opened for Hootie just before they got signed. It was in Columbia, SC. The audience loved us and yelled for an encore. We didn't stick around to hear Hootie. We'd never heard of them anyway. We don't regret it.

The only thing "Super" this weekend is Mirko. Can't wait to see him fight tomorrow night. How come martial arts fans never say "We Won!"? :p

This is what he does to football players.<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wNMgevrH8EI"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wNMgevrH8EI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

FYI, I live in Knoxville, TN where the heavenly light first gleamed down upon Peyton Manning and the masses were blessed to behold his mighty QB powers. He's every Knoxvillian sports fan's Golden God.

Seriously, I havent been able to go anywhere the past two weeks without hearing some bit of convo about him finally getting to the superbowl. This town is probably going to be decimated with suicides if he doesnt pull off a win... which would be fine by me.

Superbowl commercials have been pretty lame for a few years now. Either that or I grew up.

To be honest, its only that regular commercials are now on par with those superbowls ones. Every damn big company spend billions on marketing, publicity and shit. They don't wait for the superbowl to dish out the big bucks for commercials. Yes it costs more on that day, but sometimes a three billion commercial can't be ten times better than a two million dollars one if you know what I mean. Superbowl adds are so overrated now.

Guess that's the main reason I can't stand the guy.

I just hate him because he's a generally well behaved person who, from early on in life, dedicated himself to something and saw it pay off.

Fucker.

I'm probably just jealous because I've only dedicated myself to making the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich and being able to quote Master Killer verbatim. I havent seen that pay off in life very much, and, in my book, those are skills that should be better repected than throwing a freakin' football.

I guess I'll have to pick Da Bears, one of the neighbors is from Chicago. I really give no fuck, but just like everyone is Irish on St. Pat's, everyone is a football fan during the Super Bowl. http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:L0QZaZRfKViIKM:http://joes.propadeutic.com/pics/fridge.jpg The Fridge
Physical Training Instructor E-5 (Army sergeant)
File Name: Sgt. William Perry Primary
MOS: Physical Training Instructor
POB: Aiken, SC Secondary MOS: Special Services

Appearance: African-American; black hair and moustache; gap in teeth; sleeveless blue football shirt with white "72" on front; red, white, and blue wristbands; green pants with brown belt, red pockets, and white boots with grey kneepads

Accessories: black football attached to a chain.

Filecard Information: G. I. Joe training procedures are tough to the max and no expense is spared in insuring [sic] that G. I. Joe personnel are prepared to deal with the worst possible scenario. Regular troops tackle standard obstacle courses like fences, crawl pipes, and water traps. The G. I. Joe obstacle course consists of only one obstacle–The Fridge."
"If lacrosse is the little brother of war, football must be the rich uncle. Note the similarities: Strategy (offensive and defensive), teamwork, violence, camaraderie, television coverage, parades for the victors, and humiliation for the defeated. Using The Fridge to train the Joes is logical and practical . . . Besides, The Fridge likes to see the looks on their faces when they look up from the mud and see who they have to get past–to pass the course!"

Toy notes: Originally available free (plus shipping) through a mail-in offer included with figures sold near the end of 1986. Modeled after real-life football player William "The Refrigerator" Perry, known more for his bulk than for his skill. Conceived when a deal to introduce Rocky Balboa into the toy line fell through, reportedly because Sylvester Stallone's likeness was licensed for the new Rambo toy line. The comic had even gone so far as to print a bio of the Joe "Rocky" in its Order of Battle issues, and then printed a retraction. The filecard contains a reproduced autograph from the Fridge, and he made a live appearance in the commercial. An enormously unpopular figure then and now. Also available through 1988's mail-in offers, "Is This the End of Sgt. Slaughter?" and "Capture the Excitement."

Chuk's Roasted Habanero Super Bowl Dip

Roast the following:

10-12 habaneros
15-20 garlic cloves
1 medium sweet onion

remove stems and seeds from habs and paper from garlic and onion

Add to 20 oz. Sour cream

I added a couple teaspoons of Danny Cash's STAYS COOL sauce but you could substitute fresh lime or lemon juice and a couple fresh serranos or jalapenos ( optional)

Combine all ingredients. Salt and pepper to taste.

Blend well.

Dip Stuff. Drink beer. Watch Super Bowl. Vomit. ( optional)

But that's why the first quarter was so damn entertaining... the second quarter was much more conventional, and hence boring. Plus, Prince had already rocked the house, so it was all downhill from there.

Nah, if I wanted to be entertained like that, I'd go watch the kids on Saturdays with Gatorade and orange slices in tow. It might have been entertaining if they weren't supposed to be representing the best the NFL had to offer this particular year.

You know, I would normally agree with you, but again these aren't really my favorite teams playing. If it were the Jets, I'm would be rightly pissed off, but really all I was looking for was a way to kill a few hours. I found all the turnovers to be funny in a trainwreck sort of way.

The Superbowl doesn't really mean that much anymore... the emphasis has somewhat shifted away from football and towards commercialism. The cliche is that superbowl games are rarely "super," and more often than not that's a fact. Somehow playoff games are often much more exciting, like the Colts' brilliant come-from-behind win two weeks back.

I am glad the Colts won though so maybe it'll stop everyone from criticizing Peyton Manning and giving him the "Marino Treatment".
