My wife is really into BTS. I'm so-so on them but I can see why others would dig on it more than I do.

I've never heard them. What style of music is it?

BTS is great. My favorite of theirs is Perfect From Now On, which I could listen to over and over without tiring of. As for style of music, it's kinda hard to describe. Sorta nasally guitar-hero jam-band indie-pop-rock, but that doesn't sound right. If I had one group I think they would be most similar to, I would pick the Feelies, but that's still off base.

BTS is a band that took a great Neil Young song and totally owned the shit out of it. Cortez the Killer is no longer Neil's. For that, they rule.

Live is an incredible album, and contains a 20 minute Cortez The Killer.

BTS are the monsters of Indie-Rock. I love 'em

Is that the new one, Chad? If so, I just recorded in the same studio.

Don't you mean WE? haha. My contributions to that record cannot be understated.

Live is an incredible album, and contains a 20 minute Cortez The Killer.

That's the only version for me. It's fucking crushing.

I listened to it earlier whist riding the train home from work. Stunning. I love Martsch's command of the guitar, it's a distinctive sound that's instantly recognisable

Time Trap from KEEP IT LIKE A SECRET is my favorite:

One of my good friends, former roomates, and co-band members (actually, I taught him how to play) is fucking nuts for Built to Spill. I mean he literally has that mind glazed over, "I'll drink the tainted orange juice" kind of devotion for them and everything they do.

Being a guitar, post rock/insturmentally/long solo-jam guy, there are parts I really like. But overall in thier music, there is a "I love sunny days, wearing sandals, and playing hackey sack" vibe that just doesnt gel with my personality.

The 20 minute version of Broken Chairs on Live is my favourite BTS moment.

Has anyone heard the new BTS album yet?

I should be getting it next week sometime hopefully...

Yes, it's excellent. Also, it's a shame that the last two albums didn't get a UK release (as far as I know, anyway) and are only available on import.

Edit! Actually, I've just noticed that You In Reverse is getting a release on the 14th, but I'm sure that Ancient Melodies... was never released.

Here is the video for 'Conventional Wisdom'. Showing the indie-rock kids how it SHOULD be done:

That's very good to hear

The indie-rock kids definitely need to be shown a thing or two :)

Another US indie band that don't get the respect they deserve is Love As Laughter.

I only have one of their old 7'', Car, which I really like but I never got anything from them. Like Silkworm, another good american band in this style, I like what I've herad from them but never bought much. I have heard their version of Cortez on the radio and it's good but songs like Cortez or Cowgirl In The Sand or Like A Hurricane are only owned by Neil Young in my opinion. You simply cannot improve anything on them except for the guitar technique which isn't the point, anyway.

I now know for a fact how good the new BTS is. I love it!

I have got to say that Goin' Against Your Mind and Conventional Wisdom must be two of the best songs ever.
