I was a Rush fan in my younger years, but if I'm gonna listen to prog by either of these two bands, it's got to be Queen II.

No Kansas? -My all time faves. Voted for Rush here, though Queen had the better singer. Duh.

I do like Rush - and without irony, mind you - but I can listen to Queen anytime. They had more personality and a greater ability to fashion their many musical loves and influences into a sound that cuts across music-fan boundaries. "Tom Sawyer" aside, Rush is really aimed at prog-nerds and doesn't travel well outside those circles. Thus, Queen gets my vote.

Both fine bands, and Rush put on a brilliant show when I saw them live a couple of years back, but Queen were in a class all their own. The string of albums they did up until 1980's The Game were literally perfect, and I even find stuff to love about dark horses like Hot Spaces and The Miracle.

Queen it is then.

Rush all over the place! I am a total born again fan. I grew up in the shadow of Toronto and Rush and Max Webster were everything to me then and I'm back on it now. I like Queen but Rush I am fanatical about.

You need to convert Ian Jane to the cause. He's in a state of Severe Rush Denial...

I like Rush, but as John stated, Queen were in a class of their own - as a matter of fact, I just bought their JAZZ album today. My vote goes to Queen!

They are the champions (although I don't care for that song).

That is indeed sad and I hate to see it happen. He needs a little 'By-Tor and the Snowdog'. I can't believe Queen took this match. That's ridiculous. Come on Rush fans!

Went with Rush

I like Queen, but I get into Rush songs a lot more...

Where's the thread with Camel vs. whatever? I demand a thread for my favorite prog-band.

Again, a tough match. I never saw Queen as prog and Rush not prog in years.

QUEEN by a mile - even with the bad disco records. Freddie is only part of the genius of that band - Brian May is one of my favorite guitarists.

Even as a fellow Canadian, I've never been able to get into Rush. Queen are far from a favourite, but they have some good-to-great tunes and the solo in Bohemian Rhaposdy is terrific.

Queen takes this one. The finals will begin Monday!
