OK, I know I dont come here often lately(internet problems), but I am now browsing the Off Topic forum and Ian Miller's signature inspired me to ask for some stories:

-Whats the story of the Violent Femmes concert?
-We never got the second Kenny Rogers story?
-What childhood trauma any of you suffered to become the weirdos you are?("I was born in Canada" is accepted as an answer)

I don't know

I'd like to know more about that

I broke my leg going down the big slide in the Fun House at the Blackpool Pleasure Beach and my Dad didn't believe that I was in pain... He bought me a glass of orange juice and told me to stop being such a cry baby... I had infact broken my leg and my Dad has apologised since for his disgraceful behavior,

I've always been thoroughly normal in every respect. I suppose in regards to my cinematic preferences I am rebeling against that normalcy.

If not, I was just born this way or something. Dunno.

I was born in Canada and I'm really happy about that fact. What does that mean?

It means you have a better chance of sex with a moose than sex with a human of the opposite sex.

Sad but true.

-Whats the story of the Violent Femmes concert?

After trying to hug him on stage Ian got knocked out by Gordon Gano, who then wrote "Kiss Off" about the experience.

-We never got the second Kenny Rogers story?

It had something to do with Michael Berryman (sp?) and booze and crying...I think.

-What childhood trauma any of you suffered to become the weirdos you are?

The first rape scene in DEATH WISH 2. All my issues stem from that.

Wow, I can safely say many of mine stem from that as well, or possibly seeing Arbogast's murder from PSYCHO on public television, or seeing a poster for BELOW THE BELT or ...............

...or the cat mutilation in THE SAILOR WHO FELL FROM GRACE WITH THE SEA, or my uncle describing THE GORE-GORE GIRLS to me when I was 9, or the monster from JESSE JAMES MEETS FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER on late nite TV, or reading CUT:The Unseen Cinema when I was 10, or... :p

I was forced to watch Violence in a Women's Prison (the Caged Women version) when I was about 8. Weird experience. I always remembered it, especially one scene. When I started getting into such movies as an adult, of course I sought that one out. Kinda deja vu-ey once I finally saw it.

..so I never saw SAILOR, but I always heard it was creepy. I didn't acquire CUT til I was a teen, but others in the series certainly had images that stuck with me, also the series of National Lampoon-published dirty comix, of which I had one (FRENCH COMIX: THE KIND MEN LIKE).

Oh, man...looking through National Lampoon at an early age did a number on me.

My dad's Frazetta calendars made me a butt man for life, as you know. :D

(sorry to be hijacking this thread...AS USUAL)

I was 21 ('94) when this happened but seeing FASTER, PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL! on the same night I first got high on bong hits flipped my lid big time. Major turning point in my movie viewing experience. Maybe I need to start smoking weed again...

or seeing the trailer for ROLLERBALL, or hearing about the bathtub scene in SUPERVIXENS, or seeing pics of the eyeball scene from UN CHIEN ANDALOU in film books, or the EYBALL trailer on tv, or.........

...or hearing about the bathtub scene in SUPERVIXEN...

I swear I saw that when I was a kid. I didn't see the whole film, just that scene. When I saw SUPERVIXENS in probably '94 or '95 I had an immediate flashback as soon as I saw her in the tub. Where would I have caught that?

Listening to BLOODSUCKING FREAKS - My parents used to buy me Fangoria and I would read about movies then look for them at the video store. Well, Fango had a spotlight on BLOODSUCKING FREAKS in one issue and I had to see it. We rented it and my parents and I sat down to watch it. After about 10 minutes my mom said we had to turn it off. We watched one of the other tapes we had rented and then I went to bed. Well, my bedroom was next to the living room and at about midnight I hear my dad sneak back in and pop BLOODSUCKING FREAKS into the VCR and I ended up listening to the whole thing. Good old Ralphus! :p

I have it! I bought it after reading the review on the main page. That was yours, right? I'll watch it tonight.

Wrong Ian, but you'll dig it, Jennifer Welles is hawt.

And to get this back OT, discovering a stashed SWEDISH EROTICA issue amongst some CREEPYs at the local sleazeball bookstore where I used to score old FAMOUS MONSTER issues was a warping factor as well. Full insertion!

Seeing my first hardcore porn...on SUPER 8!!! My dad had a lesbian loop full of hippy girls in 69's. I must have been in 5th or 6th grade when I found it. I jacked up the leader pretty bad trying to feed it into the projector, I was so nervous. :o

Which reminds me - the porno booth scene in THE HOWLING. How fucked up was that for a kid to see in the theater? :D

Why did the Canadiens waive Garth Murray?

Bonk was back from injury and I think they wanted to acheive two things:

- Shake up things a bit and show to the players their jobs are not assured
-Make room for Lapierre , he is younger faster and a bit more offensive than Murray and they have the same kind of contract(plus he his a right shot center). He also is a french canadian guy and people in montreal are stupid homers...

I see. I thought it was another example of the "new" NHL fluff with another guy willing to drop the gloves being given the boot.

I saw Head on network television as a wee tot. It blew my mind. That and a few animated disney flicks. Oh yeah, anybody growing up with 70's cartoons was bound to end up a wee bit odd.

I almost forgot... Dark Shadows on daytime TV. I got spanked for trying to bite a kid on the neck in kindergarten.
