View Full Version : Michael Ninn's Sacred Sinn

Ok, so this is the new 'big project' from Ninn, kind of his follow up to Catherine (which was completely pretentious but which I really, really liked). It looks completely odd with way over the top visuals, bad acting and a very off the wall sort of theological storyline to it. And Eddie Van Halen scored the damn thing.
Anyone else interested in this snooty art porn hybrid?
A not so safe for work link....

I have it, but I haven't watched it yet. I have to be in the right mood for Ninn otherwise it's hard to sit through, but when it works it works amazingly well.
I prefer the art porn to the, I know you hate the term, alt porn which usually leaves me colder than a dead salmon.

I'm lukewarm on Ninn, some of his stuff is okay but I don't like the soft lighting and lack of any live sound. The pretension can also get out of hand. Although the needle through the lip in that clip is pretty nasty and unusual for modern xxx.
I prefer Andrew Blake's old tease-o-ramas like Dark Angel, High Heels, Pin ups, Femmes de Erotique, etc. I haven't seen any of his more recent work but for a gay guy he shoots the female vulva with a lot of love.

I'll be skipping this, it really hasn't gotten the press Ninn used to get when he was associated with Pure Play Media. Audrey Hollander was the only thing that saved "Catherine." I like Monica Mayhem (also a redhead), but RT is right, the pretension looks over the top.
Separate topic: will Ninn be remembered 30 years from now the same was Bill Osco is remembered from 1976?

I'm actually ok with the pretension. It doesn't bother me at all. I got this yesterday and hope to check it out this weekend. If nothing else the director's commentary could be interesting - I think this is his first.

Ninn does zilch for me.

I haven't seen anything that Ninn's done since Latex and Shock, but I enjoy those and remembering thinking that the promo work for Catherine looked good in AVN (in fact, I think I tore out the mini-poster somewhere...) so maybe I'll check this out.

To be fair I did like his Innocent series and some of the Euroglam things as well; although they are derivative of Andrew Blake. ;)

Ninn did a commentary for LATEX that for some bizarre reason is only on the laserdisc release and was not ported over to the DVD. I remember finding it very interesting and forthright about certain details of shooting adult movies (perhaps that's why it was never re-purposed?).

Hey Scooter! Good to see ya buddy!
I've always wanted to hear that LATEX commentary but never got the chance. I loved Ninn's early stuff like LATEX and SHOCK but he's lost me in recent years. This looks kinda interesting though.

Hey There Andy!
Looks like you have an excuse to come visit me now and listen to the commentary.
Congratulations on the release of your latest flick -- it sounds like some challenging viewing (though I'd expect nothing less from you) and I'm looking forward to seeing it soon.
Hope you're doing great and hopefully speak to you soon.
