Hungarian PM Ferenc Gyurcsany remains defiant after a second night of riots in the capital, Budapest, and has said he will not tolerate violence.
The clashes were triggered by his admission that he lied about the state of public finances to win re-election.

Police and demonstrators clashed again on Tuesday, leaving more than 50 people hurt, after 10,000 people protested peacefully outside parliament.

Calm is now said to have returned to the streets of Budapest.

Doesn't Wostry live in Budapest?

Thanks for the massive concern my absence caused on the forum (with the exception of Richard and Joe everybody else can kiss my ass).

I attended the 3rd Miskolc Film Festival this week, my film was shown there (Miskolc is the 2nd biggest city of the country), that's why I didn't do much posting. The riots are still on in every major city of Hungary, but fewer and fewer people join them, and they are not that dangerous to begin with, it's mostly just shouting by now.

The first day my posse and I arrived at Miskolc we decided to check out the city. We stumbled upon a large crowd of people. Let's see what they doing! Only after minutes mixing into the crowd and another few minutes following a few very short haired gentlemen did we realize we joined the skinheads of the demonstration... The huge fucking hungarian flags they were waving about should have been a dead giveaway...

Ferenc, my friend, you've gotta learn and accept as the rest of "foreigners" have -- everything outside of "Fantasy Island" simply doesn't exist and is of no great concern in the grander scheme of things! I accepted the fact ages ago and just resigned myself to living on as a figment of the Americanos imaginations...

But in all seriousness, glad to see you're okay and all is fine on your end (imagine that, two internet buddies in one week caught up in political turmoil! I have another email friend in Bangkok...and she's okay too, thank heavens!). Btw, how'd your film go down? :)

First of all - altough I purposely decided to leave off the smiley, just to provoke this kind of reaction :) - I'm kidding, obviously; I'm not pissed at anyone here, in fact, the more time goes by, the more I love this place...

Second, the film did not win any awards, because it really wasn't that good to begin with, and I didn't really have too much to do with it - I joined the production AFTER it was shot, but still received "production manager" credit for doing the PR of the movie and such (I know production managers dont do PR, I just wanted the credit). I went down there to make contacts and f... meet girls, and I did both. :)

Today I arrived home, and a few hours later came the call: my uncle, an absolutely splendid guy, has died. (Actually I'm kinda uncomfortable to talk about this here, it's a personal matter after all, but 1, I have to talk about it otherwise I punch a hole in the wall, 2, I really think this place, even tho a public message board, are populated by people who I can talk to about it. He died in a awful manner, and the fucking doctors did not give the body the respect it deserves to say the least. I fucking hate them...

Stop it Mike, you are upsetting my Austrailophile (ok, I made up that word but it refers to a patholgical love of all things Australian) sensibilities. :D

Hell, I would move to Australia tomorrow if they would let me in!

Wostry: I am really sorry to hear about your uncle. Years ago, my mother's boyfriend (he really was more like my father in terms of our relationship) died due to incompetence from doctors and unneeded surgery. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life, so I understand your anger. Its a truly horrible thing to deal with.

Horace: I feel you should go back to your roots and move to Belgium! :D

Just goes to show you how much more effective the danish police is than the hungarian - the first night the rioters stormed the building of the hungarian public tv, tore it apart, and beat the shit out of the arriving policemen... Altough I hate the far right (and these rioters are far right) anyone beating up cops is a friend of mine. :)

The Danish police is maybe a bit too effective.
It all started out as a rather peacefull demo/reclaim the streets kinda thing, then the police came and drove their cars into people, forcing them to split up, and then the shit hit the fan with loads of people starting to build barricades in the streets, setting fire to some junk, smashing some windows, and of course throwing stones, bottles, fruit and fireworks at the police.
If I´m right it was about 800 in the demo, and 266 arrested is a bit much.
The one that got hurt was probably hurt by the police as well.
This country is starting to get really uptight, I´m moving soon anyway...

By the way, the rioteers here in Copenhagen are very leftish.....or the young angry drunk punk variety.

I´m sorry about your uncle Wostry, and me neither is a big fan of either doctors or policemen.

Ever tried to be beaten up by three italian cops, NOT funny!

Yeah, they are bored punks who likes to throw stones, and yes, some of them are idiotic fucks, but Copenhagen needs it. It needs this house.
. if this Christian nut thing is taking this house, it´s gonna be a fucking war, and the christians are gonna win, and Copenhagen will be like Oslo, just with a little mermaid.... ;)

All in Norwegian, but a nice photo....

Wostry, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your uncle :( It's always a tragedy to lose a loved one, especially when the medical profession fucks about.

Hehe, excuse me for being a bit naughty! I'm not Anti-American by any stretch of the imagination, but it does amuse me how insular some American folk are of the world outside their shores (don't fret, we get it here in Oz too but not nearly to the extremes I see on the internerd). But I am glad to see we have folk like Chad and Frank who are prepped and ready to explore the "outside world" for all of its wonders...and skanky back-streets! Word up, boys! :D

Secondly, Ferenc, apologies for running this slightly off-topic -- shocked to hear about your uncle and really saddened by the news. Hope you're getting on as well as you can and that the family are coping the best they can...:(

I'm leaving for another week - the film was just invited to the Film Festival of Pécs ("Europe's Cultural Capital 2007"). I'm leaving tomorrow and come back on the 9th - until then enjoy the production blog of my new company, BLACK KITE FILMS (well, enjoy the pics anyway - I SWEAR TO GOD SHE IS 22!!!)

http://www.sokkmagazin.hu/bkf/

I'll try to update the blog each day with pictures while I'm there, altough I'm not sure how often I'll be able to get to a computer.

From now on the text under the pictures will be bi-lingual. And yes, one of the girls I got to know at Miskolc is Australian (but lives now in Holland) and another one (tho other blond) is hungarian but went to an australian film school.
