Warhammer is great. Mage Knights is also somewhat worthwhile.

I play 1e D&D and 2e Gamma World. I have Star Frontiers and got 2e Boot Hill for my brother. We only played SF for an hour or so, unfortunately.
In the 80s we used to play Marvel Superheroes and Top Secret S.I.

I used to play Marvel Superheroes in the 80s too. And GURPS.

I used to play Dungeons and Dragons. It's still the original and the best.

But GURPS had a horror movie module with a Freddy knock off in it.

That was rad.

When I was in high school I devised a pro-wrestling RPG using dice. I still play it with my core group of buddies.... 15 years later.

Ever write down the rules? Sounds pretty cool.

That video is hilarious and completely accurate.

When I was a kid I played D&D with my brothers, when I was a nerdy teen I played AD&D and Call of Cthulhu and some cyberpunk rpg whose name escapes me (it may have been GURPS).

Looking back, I'd say the original D&D was more fun because of the simplicity of the rules and the lack of teenage testosterone and nerd rage that I encountered playing AD&D as a teen.

Call of Cthulhu was also a really underrated game. Loads of fun, much better written modules with real storylines that required some smarts instead of a +10 sword. Also the fact that your character was probably not going to live past a few games kept things light and funny.

Can't your guy die during character creation in Traveler?

Was it Shadowrun? We had one of the books but never got around to playing it. Seemed fun.

No, Shadowrun did look cool but I just googled it and realized it was Cyberpunk 2020:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_2020

The world and background was strong but the mechanics were a little wonky because it took a fair bit of time to create a character but it was very, very easy to die in a firefight so it seemed unlikely that a character would survive even one scenario.

Man, I am nerding out. :o

I haven't played any RPGs in a long time. I used to run Star Wars, Doctor Who, Time Lord(a second Dr Who RPG) Project A-Ko, DC RPG (I only ran golden age adventures) and It Came From The Late Late Late Show(A game I'm sure a lot on this board would love to play). And i played Chiller, Marvel Superheroes, Shadowrun, Call Of Cthulu, all the White Wolf World Of Darkness games, Pirates, Middle Earth RPG, Champions and several other Hero system games (Horror Hero, Cyber Hero, Fantasy Hero)

Jesus How much did I spend on books back in the 80s and 90s? Thank God for the 20% off birthday discount I got at the store I bought most of the stuff at.

OMG. That video is bringing back so many memories

My gaming group ranges in age from ~35-55.
We play a lot of board games.
~3-4 times a month we play D&D 3.5
We used to play Fantasy Hero but I actually like the 3.5 system.
The guy who runs has his own style. Think fantasy & sci fi & Bond.
And lots of dinosaurs.

It was by West End Games. The same company that made the DC RPG. one of my friends bought it but we never played it.

I just realized I forgot Paranoia in my original post. It's always fun playing a game where you can truly screw with your friends.
