"Night Of The Living Dead" (1968)
This was the one that really started it all for me. The one that showed me what true horror was all about and the one that showed me that all those Universal "horror" films I watched earlier weren't horror afterall.

Martin - It doesn't have the same "name" value as NotLD, but I think this is Romero's masterpiece. It's a haunting, poetic, sad, funny and at times shocking little gem.

RE-ANIMATOR... that's the film that seriously got me into horror films.

Lots of my favourites on that list and if I wasn't so lazy I might could think of some "other" choices, but for the moment I have to say The Evil Dead.

HALLOWEEN is very close but I went with NOTLD

I had to pick Night as it is in my opinion THE most terrifying film of the 20th century.Still I enjoyed Halloween,Re-Animator and TCM.

They're all great, but I chose TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. There was never anything like it, and no one has been able to match that exact mood ever since, despite everyone and their brother trying.

While NOTLD really really scared me TCM was one of my first drive in experiences. This movie totally scared the shit out of four smart assed teenage boys and we watched the last 45 minutes from the concession stand. We were freaked. Nobody said a word on the drive home.

I am just hopelessly in unconditional love with HORROR HIGH.
