This 3-disc set is one that you might easily overlook. It's actually a really well-written, hilariously un-PC fantasy that sports a great cast including Diana (Mommie Dearest) Scarwid and amazing young actress named Caroline Dhavernas in the lead. No wonder Fox cancelled it after only three airings...

I saw the episodes that aired, it was an interesting show to say the least.
Eventually I check out the dvd.

I really loved the first episode, but the others fell short in my opinion. I hated how all of a sudden they turned the main character ifrom a sarcastic, mean-spirited person with a heart to just a wise-cracking, cheerful person with a HUGE heart of gold. Just didn't seem right. But still a pretty fun show

I see your point, Jesse. I belive that a couple of episodes are shown out of the intended order on the discs, so maybe that had something to do with your reaction?
I enjoyed the way that Jaye (Dhavernas) seemed to progress a little bit in her life, instead of remaining a one-note caricature. Perhaps the creators wanted the metaphysics of the story to actually have an effect on her personality. How could she not change to a degree, after going through the experience of the "muses"? Still, I find that she remains a reluctant player at best until the end, which suits her character.
I also really liked the way the Jaye's family all seemed to gradually evolve from really, really weird nutcases into likeable people. That's good writing.
