Dark comedy with a excellent tragic comic performance by Volonte who plays a factory worker, doing well in his job, and kept on his toes by his thoughts of sex, until an accident changes his way of thinking about the working class(especially after losing his job for a brief period) . Another terrific Petri film with a surrealistic feel, and an element that is something out of a 1920s Soviet film or a Paul Scharader film(esp, Blue Collar). As always(or most of the time) the score by Morricone is memorable and eccentric. Some elements of the film also reminds me of The Seduction of Mimi. This film does feel like a Wertmuller film with Volonte playing a Giannini like character. Mariaangela Melato is good as the girlfriend.
