Deepest apologies if this has been addressed before (I haven't been here in a very long time), but Image is obviously releasing less and less Something Weird Special editions. What's the story behind this? Will the two continue to work together in the future?

There's quite a few on the horizon. I think they just come in waves.

Thanks, for awhile there it seemed like they were realeasing about 2 a month and then it seemed to slow. I think we have Sweet Georgia and Tarz & Jane to look forward to in March. Do know you know the names of any titles to come after that?

According to Images website...nothing.

Mondo Digital lists these:

Girl with an Itch / The Seventh Commandment

but with no date.

On May 31 they have VIBRATIONS/FLUCTUATIONS/SUBMISSION; looks like an interesting disc.

There has been various speculations why there have been no new SWV DVDs scheduled.

Some of the best sounding to me so far have been 1) SWV recent relocation of their film collection and offices has put a hold on their schedule 2) There is a contract renewal or expiration between Image and SWV.

One insider says that there is a lot of SWV DVDs (not just DVD-Rs) coming this year.

However, I am in the dark about this as everyone else is.

It's on the Image web-page under May 2005. The titles don't jump out as being an SWV DVD, so on first glance it may appear they aren't putting out product in May. Check page 2 of the May releases.

I do have the SW Catalogs and see that they are indeed putting out a lot of the films on DVD-R, in addition to the old girly and X Rated loops. I'm really partial to the special editions though, I love the double features especialy. They have a few things in the back catalog that seem like perefect matches for a special edition (like "Long, Swift Sword of Siegfried," and "Ribald Tales of Robin Hood").

I really hope we see an explosion of filth from SWV/Image sometime soon - they have a number of great titles left to release.

On the other hand, if they did part ways with Image and were to hook up with someone else who could do quality authoring, maybe it would lead to the release of movies like Love Camp 7 or The Sinful Dwarf (which Image is rumored to be afraid of).

Redundant questions I always ask in Something Weird threads:

What happened to the batch of A.C. Stephen Special Editions we were supposed to be getting? I was primed for Motel Confidential, Suburban Confidential, The College Girls and Lady Godiva Rides...

Why did they quit releasing David F. Friedman productions? I was awaiting The Acid Eaters, The Ribald Tales Of Robin Hood and The Lustful Turk among others...

Why did we only get the one "adult western" release? Where are Hot Spur, The Scavengers, Brand Of Shame and Fandango??

What ever became of announced but indefinately postponed releases such as Shanty Tramp, Little Red Riding Hood And The Monsters, The Acid Eaters and Samson Vs. The Vampire Women??

Weren't the Joe Sarno releases a few months back supposed to be the first in a stream of Sarno releases?? Still awaiting a The Bed And How They Make It/Anything For Money double feature...

And lastly, though there has never been any suggestion they even have the materials/rights necessary to do this, is there any hope of more Isabel Sarli releases? I would love to see Carne, Heat or Evil Fury get a decent release...

Not to mention Doris Wishman's The Immoral Three...

And for the second time: THE SINFUL DWARF.

THE SINFUL DWARF seems to be high on everybodys SWV list. I also hope this gets released....

The Vibrations DVD is now available for pre-order from DVDEmpire.

The SWV DVD schedule has been real spotty as of late.

Some other suggestions for release:

All-American Girl/All-American Woman(was announced several years ago)
Starlet/Thar She Blows(ditto)
The Divorcee
A "white coaters" set(Man and Wife, Pornography in Denmark, Sexual Practices in Sweden, He and She, Africanis Sexualis)
Garden of Eden(an important film)
Some of the 1930's films like Escort Girl, Wages of Sin, etc

I thought about adding 30s & 40s exploitation to my bitch list but figured I'd gone on long enough. But seeing as how you've mentioned it, I would love to see:

DAMAGED GOODS (1937)
CHILD BRIDE
MOM AND DAD
WILD WEED

In fairness to SWV though, I'm not sure they are even in possession of these. If memory serves, they did video releases of Damaged Goods and Child Bride, but I very well could be wrong...

WAGES OF SIN is an excellent suggestion.

Other titles that we need to have whether through SWV or someone else:

THE SINISTER URGE
RUNNING WILD
UNTAMED YOUTH
A TASTE OF FLESH
MONDO KEYHOLE
SHE MOB
POOR WHITE TRASH
COMMON LAW WIFE

Also, someone really needs to break the RON ORMOND drought. I really want to see the following come to DVD:

PLEASE DON'T TOUCH ME
WHITE LIGHTNING ROAD
THE GIRL FROM TOBACCO ROW
FORTY ACRE FEUD

And most importantly:

THE EXOTIC ONES aka THE MONSTER AND THE STRIPPER

If anyone has any encouraging news about any of these titles, bring it!

Common Law Wife is already out with Jennie/Wife Child which
is also a very good movie with some cool tunes. Child Bride
is on Alpha & actually has a pretty nice picture.

I'd like to see this double feature Nymphs Anonymous & Hot
Connections 2 movies that deal with Womens Lib/Empowerment
in comic ways. I'd also like to see Blonde On A Bum Trip released.

Oh shit, I think I actually own that disc (Common Law Wife/Jennie)... Thanks for reminding me - I'm an idiot...

Wasn't aware of the Child Bride release on Alpha though... Great tip! Thanks!

C.S. from DVDDrivein told me that he has been talking to Tim Ormond who has a distributor and they're coming out in 2005. Tim isn't sure what he can cough up for extras as June Ormond is in poor health and he's selfconscious about doing commentaries.

Any word on who is slated to author/distribute?

It's an independent distributor not big, I think the same guys who did the VHS copies a few years back.

Hopefully the quality of the transfers will be decent.

I know SWV does not have video rights for Mom and Dad as I asked them about it several years ago(they offered it briefly, them yanked it).

Alpha does have an excellent print of Gambling With Souls out on DVD as well.
