Does the single dvd release of the film include the 'bonus' Book of the Dead featurettes?
Someone awhile ago on another forum, claimed they were actually on the dvd,but 'hidden easter eggs'. Is that true?
I am just curious, since I could either pick up the Book edition with the dvd in a crappy sleeve for a high price,or get the cheaper keepcase release.

they're not easter eggs persay. AB was just lazy and deleted the menus to access the features, but if you use your chapter button, you can find them.

Nice to know,so I won't have to waste alot of money on the 'book' edition then:)
While I am more than happy with the Elite edition of the film. I have to get the AB release for the captions and would like all the extras possible. I used to own the 'book' edition, but the dvd was in shitty shape from the sleeve, and I felt abit 'ripped' off.
Since the packaging was very shoddy and fell apart easily. It just seemed like a waste to get 'excited' over that edition, and Also made me realize, double dipping is not really worth it:)
So I very rarey double dip on films,in fact 99% of my collection I have only bought once and that was that.

I'm just sticking with my Elite SE... for one thing, I prefer the film full frame, and I also think it has superior picture quality to the AB release.

I agree with that as well Ryan, but unfortunately it does'nt have captions...and my girlfriend who is deaf, loves the film.
I won't give up the Elite release though:)

this WAS the case with the earlier pressings. because the word got out that all the extras from the Book version was on the regular disc as well, Anchor Bay fixed this on later pressings, so whether you get these hidden extras will depend on the pressing you get.

How can you tell apart from the packaging of the 'first' and 'later' pressings?
I see this on dvd all the time at wal-mart,borders,best buy and other stores. They seem to always have quite a few copies left on the shelf. So the chances of the 'first' pressings still being on the shelf is pretty good. But if they have the exact same sku numbers and everything with no difference. It will be impossible to know what pressing it is.
I mostly enjoyed the Fanayisis documentary by Bruce, meanwhile the other 'bonus' feature was pretty forgettable. Basically a rush job of information I already knew.
But I guess I can live without Bruces feature,if I have to,though it would be cool to have.

i dont think you can tell the difference in the printings from the packaging. stores like kmart and walmart seem to get a new shipment around halloween, so those might be new printings, borders seem to have alot of old stock. i guess its just a roll the dice thing.
