THE DANA CARVEY SHOW
Collectable 2-DVD Box Set Brimming with The Complete Collection of this Comedy Series, including Unaired Episode
AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME ON DVD MAY 12, 2009 FROM SHOUT! FACTORY
Built around the extraordinary talent of Saturday Night Live veteran and Emmy® award-winning comedian Dana Carvey, the mind-blowing but short-lived sketch comedy series The Dana Carvey Show graced American television in 1996 with subversive humor and hilarious spins on the world of politics, entertainment and pop culture. Headlined by Carvey, this fun-filled comedy series featured the comedic talents of Steve Carrell (The Office, The 40 Year Old Virgin) and Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report) before they were household names. Dana Carvey and Robert Smigel (SNL, TV Funhouse) executive produced and appeared in the cast.
From this extraordinary pool of talent came some of TV’s funniest moments, showcasing some of Carvey’s most memorable send-ups and dead-on impersonations. Looking back at the past U.S. presidential campaign, Carvey and company took on not only President Bill Clinton and his challengers, Senator Bob Dole and Ross Perot, but also the likes of Pat Buchanan and Steve Forbes. Moreover, the show skewered Hollywood names like Quentin Tarantino, Oliver Stone, Jay Leno, The Beatles, and Madonna as well as the players in the O.J. Simpson trial.
On May 12, 2009, Shout! Factory will release the long-awaited The Dana Carvey Show on DVD, featuring the complete collection of the entire series and the unaired episode. Poised to satisfy the Carvey, Carrell, Colbert and comedy fans for ritual viewing, this 2-DVD set is priced to own at $24.99.
The Dana Carvey Show may have hit the airwaves “a moment too soon.” Only eight episodes were made — and only seven of those were broadcast — before it was cancelled. This DVD set is a tribute to a show that was definitely ahead of its time and is still talked about by those lucky enough to have seen it in 1996. Moreover, this DVD set provides the opportunity for fans to see the never-before-aired 8th episode of The Dana Carvey Show.
The Dana Carvey Show is from Sony Pictures Television and has been licensed for distribution by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Inc.
Executive produced by Dana Carvey and Robert Smigel, produced by Brillstein-Grey Communications, and distributed internationally by Columbia Tri-Star International Television, The Dana Carvey Show premiered on ABC in 1996. The show’s cast included Dana Carvey, Steve Carell, Bill Chott, Stephen Colbert, Elon Gold, Chris McKinney, Heather Morgan, Peggy Shay, Robert Smigel, and James Stephens III.
