LEGEND FILMS TO RELEASE COLLECTION OF PARAMOUNT
FILMS NEVER BEFORE SEEN ON DVD!
First Wave to be released on June 3rd
Second Wave to be released on July 1st
SAN DIEGO, CA, May 15, 2008 — Legend Films, Inc. announced today that it has licensed from Paramount Home Entertainment thirty-two titles for exclusive distribution in the DVD format. These titles, never before seen on DVD, include a mix of critical hits, popular favorites and controversial cult classics.
The first roll out of titles begins June 3rd, with a second planned for July 1st. The licensing deal with Paramount marks an exciting evolution for Legend Films, which expands its existing library of home entertainment titles while maintaining its commitment to the revitalization of vintage films for modern audiences.
“Legend Films combed the vaults to find these great film gems, all of which have never been released in North America on DVD,” said Bob Pollack, President of Legend Films. “These strategically selected titles cross over many genres and feature enduring stars that will appeal to a broad range of film lovers.”
The first wave of titles to be released on June 3rd includes such star-driven films as the comedy Almost An Angel, starring Paul Hogan of Crocodile Dundee® fame, the acclaimed drama King of the Gypsies, with Susan Sarandon and Golden Globe® nominee Eric Roberts, the heartwarming film The Optimists, featuring Peter Sellers, the supernatural thriller The Possession of Joel Delaney, starring Shirley MacLaine, the classic horror film The Skull, starring screen legends Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, and Villa Rides, an all-star western with Yul Brynner, Robert Mitchum and Charles Bronson.
Additional titles planned for release include the Richard Pryor comedy, Some Kind of Hero, the controversial race drama Mandingo, based on the best selling book, and the cult horror comedy Student Bodies.
The second roll-out commences July 1st, and includes another eclectic mix of star studded gems and previously hard to find favorites such as the Sidney Lumet drama Daniel, with Timothy Hutton and Ellen Barkin, the sexy comedy French Postcards, starring Debra Winger, the moving family drama Man, Woman and Child starring Martin Sheen and Blythe Danner, the classic comedy Money From Home, with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, and the Oscar® winning comedy Papa’s Delicate Condition, starring Jackie Gleason.
Additional releases include the popular 80’s romance Baby, It’s You with Rosanna Arquette, the straight cop/gay cop buddy comedy Partners and the family sports comedy Rhubarb.
Legend Films recognized a huge consumer demand for these and other titles that have not yet appeared on the DVD format. “We are confident that this is just the beginning as we know there are numerous titles sitting in the vaults with no current plans for release,” added Mr. Pollack.
Complete with brand new packaging, all titles are fresh, entertaining and affordably priced at the SRP of $14.95. The wait is over for movie fans eager to discover or rediscover these almost lost classics!
